Where is the warmth?

I am getting sick of snow and -10 mornings. I have yet to do a single commute (40km from the country) as the cold temps combined with -10 to -17 wind chills is freezing my feet and hands.
It is supposed to be -11 here tonight with more snow.
I need warmth.......it must be somewhere.

I am getting sick of sun and 90+ afternoons. I have yet to do a single commute (without sweating) as the warm temps combined with 60 to 80% humidity is making me sweat on any ride >1 mile.
It is supposed to be 92 here tomorrow with more sun.
I need some cold.......it must be somewhere.

This is why I pretty much stayed indoors every summer in Kentucky. When it's too hot to even walk around without risk of sweating, biking is out of the question. Right now, temps are in the 60s to 70s in the daytime, which is just great, except for when the humidity comes. I predict I'll ride for the rest of the month. After that, rides may become restricted to early mornings and late evenings, if at all.

Even with a t-shirt in 45 degree temps, my back tends to sweat profusely after 20-30 minutes of walking with a backpack on.

When riding in the drops with a messenger bag, the wind runs over my back and I tend to sweat less. Though this is not the case in any other hand position or on a more upright bike.

I never walk or bike extensively without a bag, so I can't speak from that perspective.

Bunch O' Whiners.

Not the OP, snow and below 0 temps in May just isn't right.

But the rest of you people? Buck up. It's not even summer yet.

We've just had our first 90+ degree days, but usually its in the mid-80s which is nice. Here in Georgia, the hotter it gets, the more humid it gets. As bad as it is in the winter pedaling into a freezing strong headwind, it isn't as bad as pedaling into a wet wall of soupy stagnant 95 degree air like I will all summer. No breeze, just hot and swamplike. I'm not looking forward to the next few months.

Although, I never had to ride in temps under 20 degrees this winter... well, only two or three mornings when it was a little lower, but definitely over 15, but usually closer to 30. I guess this summer is the price I gotta pay to not have to deal with the winters the Canadians do. I just couldn't do that.

Ahhh yes now the comments at work go from you must be crazy to ride in the cold to the you must be crazy to ride in the heat. A couple of more weeks and I'll have to alter my route to pass by a few of the local swimming pools. I love summer!!

Doesn't matter to me if it's 40 degrees or 100 degrees.
If I'm biking, I'm sweating.

I'd much rather be sweating than not being able to feel my fingers and toes.

It's in the 70's here today (NYC metro area). The sun is shining, and it's breezy. It's been absolutely gorgeous the past few days. We get precious few days like this here. We get a long, real winter. We get a severe summer that ironically is too short for my taste.

Says the guy in Minneapolis. Of course you can't complain about hot days.

By Minnesota standards, it's been summer here since January. It's been in the 80's since March and now getting to the mid 90's. I'm not complaining though, I love the heat and humidity. I'd much rather sweat than freeze. Snow is for penguins and polar bears.

I was going to do a mini gripe about it being +10C (50F) in May.... I guess I have nothing to bi#$%h about. I've ridden all but 3 days since December 1st.
