A little warmer this morning, 35F. All the snow and ice from the weekend is gone. Tuesdays are my hammer day, so I got in a little faster than usual today.

Wet, wet and wet and I loved every minute of it. My "water resistant" jacket is just that, I was dry for about 5 minutes. Luckily it was fairly warm.

This is my first post in a year and a half.
-6C, 1.5 inches of powder.
I got my motorcycle license back in May, but stayed on my Kona until June, when I did a 200km ride to raise money for cancer research and treatment. Then I retired my bike and rode motorcycle all summer. With the weather getting below zero and the roads getting dustings of snow, it's time to park the motorcycle and get back on my old friend.
I'm having a really tough time getting motivated for another winter of riding. One thing I've said I'll do is post here more often, and get reconnected with other winter riders. The other thing I'll do is get a new piece of gear for winter riding to rope myself into sticking with it.
Anyways, this has been longer than my typical commute report, but it's good to be back in the saddle.

first time i've saddled up for work since the beggining of summer.... which in FL starts in Feb/Mar, but yeah it was a good ride to work and back.

WET! Pretty good showers this morning, but not bad enough that it was hard to see. The wind was at my back most of the way, so it was a quick one. All in all, a very refreshing ride!

Spetember was warm, with several days in the 80s and high 70s. I was looking forward to cool weather--highs in the 60s and 50s, lows in the 40s--nice riding weather. October, though, has proven to be colder than normal--29F on my commute in this morning. Yesterday's snow is still hanging around, and it melted and refroze. Skidded and fell at one spot, but I was going slow so I'm fine.

It was absolutely wazzing down when I looked out this morning, so I rode anyway. Sometimes I just love riding in the rain, if it is not unduly cold. Shorts, jersey and shoe covers were sufficient today for a great ride.

Yesterday...9 miles in to work and 9 miles home. Not a bad ride if you exclude when i stopped at the stop light forgetting to un-clip my right shoe then used my right arm to get my water causing me to follow over at a busy stop light..hmmmm way 2 go.
Today..9 miles in at a cool 64 degrees..leaving home in 2 1/2 hours should be around 86 degress...gotta love Tucson in October..OH and used my Aero Bars for the first time this morning, FLEW into work...

chilly morning (0 deg C). couldn't find the shoe covers anywhere. ended up slapping some duct tape over the meshy parts of the cycling shoes. surprisingly effective.

Another chilly ride at 37 F ( 2 C) this morning. Lots of delivery people and newpaper delivery people traveling fast in the dark, but thats normal. They may all be accumstomed to seeing me in the dark as
well.

It rained before I got up this morning, and the radar showed a lot more showers coming, but I took my chances and rode. Foolishly, I didn't wear my raincoat because it looked like the rain was still an hour or so away. It started sprinkling as I was leaving the neighborhood but I didn't feel like going back for my coat, so I gambled on the heavy rain holding off. I lucked out. Although it sprinkled all the way to work and the roads were wet, it never rained hard enough to get me wet.
A raccoon walked out into the road ahead of me, took one look at my headlights, and then ran back into the woods. They sure do walk funny, with their hind quarters up in the air.

Dry. 30s. Saw some other cyclists. The beaver-felled tree is still blocking the MUP, but a hole has been cleared beneath it so it's easy to get under. I haven't been feeling like myself lately. Slow and easily tired. Probably related to whatever cold-like thing I had last week.

Nice ride to the station. It's totally dark for the whole ride now, and the deer are out in force at that time of morning. Almost got hit by a deer running across the road, spooked by who-knows-what. Well, s/he missed me by a good 20 feet, but still: quite a thrill!
