I"m a teacher - shirt, tie, and polished dress shoes are the order of the day. A jacket on Friday. I keep a jacket in my classroom, and the rest fits in a messenger bag, that likewise fits in one of my rear baskets.

There's always this approach:
How do Dutch offices smell?
I have to look halfway decent when I teach, but only halfway, and no one needs to stand near me.

+1. I keep a couple of hand towels at the office and rinse my face when I get to the office.

It's getting to be that time of year where I don't know if I should wear an unbuttoned flannel shirt over a t-shirt like the last few months or whether it's time to break out the short sleeve buttoned shirts.

I find most people do things backwards - why not pick jobs that allow you to live and dress as you wish to, instead of picking the job and THEN figuring out how to deal with archaic dress codes?

Due to the recession I now work 3 afternoons/week as an office manager (in addition to running my own business). Dress code was one of my first questions after "how flexible are hours?". While I had not planned on working for anyone else again, and this would not have been my first choice for type of job, I love every minute of it - because the whole office shares my values.

Same here, though mine has not reached the 5 year mark yet. I rarely use it other than when shooting weddings.

My problem with fancy clothes are the appropriate shoes to go with - women's dress shoes are not very functional and I have a lot of trouble finding ones that fit. With jeans/khakis I can get by wearing men's shoes that fit, can be worn with socks, plenty of padding on the soles, and no heels. So, yes, I am very happy that I don't have to deal with dress pumps that were killing my feet along with the hassles of wearing pantyhose and dresses.

Business casual; I usually bring a full change of clothes because I'll get swamp ass in this humidity. I sweat somewhat easily

I wear jeans with a work shirt, either a polo or button up shirt. I keep my sneakers and jeans at work. I'll usually get 3-5 days out of the pants, sometimes less, if they get filthy from my work (working on dirty, dusty, greasy machinery). I always bring a shirt each day as I would rather not try to get more than one day in a row as they tend to get a bit funky. I 'spose I could hose myself down with anti-perspirant/deodorant, but, I hate that crap and some types make me break out in a rash.

Me too. FWIW, I posted this to a recent thread about saddle sores:

BTW, I also use the alcohol as a deodorant. Dries quickly with no residual scent, and is somewhat refreshing due to the cooling by evaporation. I haven't heard of any complaints.

There once was a TV commercial for a deodorant with a person on camera stating that "I don't use *** deodorant and I have a perfect home life," to which an off-camera voice asked, "You live alone, don't you?."
