Looking for new bike commuters

I'm a reporter for Kiplinger's Personal Finance Magazine and kiplinger.com looking to write a story that will give our readers a crash course on bicycle commuting. I'm hoping to find someone (or multiple people) who have recently switched over to bicycle commuting from driving to interview for the story. I'd like to ask you how the adjustment is going for, what advice you'd offer new commuters, and how much gas money you've saved. If interested, please respond to this message or e-mail me at ljones@kiplinger.com. Thanks!

Louis Jones

I think you should literally put yourself into your work and give it a shot for yourself. Even if only for a week.

It's not what you save by bike commuting, it's what you gain.

I'm with him. Your article would be ten times better if you did the commuting.

I agree with all of you. And actually, I do commute on bike 13 miles each way from Fairfax, Virginia to Washington, D.C. every other day. The reason I'm interested in writing the story is that I'm cyclist myself. I'd still like to talk to some people who are just making the switch from driving to cycling, so let me know if you fit the criteria. I've already gotten a few great responses via e-mail. Thanks, all.

Does it count if I switch from NYC Subway to bike? I haven't actually started yet as I'm still looking at locks, but next week should be my start.

Hmm, perhaps "crash course in bicycle commuting" wasn't the best choice of words
