The problem with big box store bikes isn't always necessarily the bike, it is the half -a$$ed assembly job done. I always take a look at the wall of shame (aka the assembled bikes) in department stores and seeing things like backwards forks, brakes not hooked up correctly, etc etc is a common sight.
