Mileage Decrease?

Has anyone else experienced a minute drop in their mileage on routes they ride every day? My computer is reporting that my ride to work (just under 8 miles) is about .05 to .1 shorter in the last few days? I'm relatively new and am cognizant of my bike control and climbing resulting in much less lateral movement across the road. But I didn't think that would amount to a whole tenth over 8 miles! Could it be something else? Weather? Computer inaccuracy?

Make sure the sensor is close enough to the magnet. If it's borderline, it's possible that your computer is missing the occasional revolution.

Or maybe the weather's gotten a tad warmer over the past few days, increasing the pressure in your tires and making them slightly bigger.

Nope. Computer is properly programmed.

It has been much warmer. Mag is pretty close to the sensor.

maybe like you said, lateral movement (especially in climbs), but maybe even you're naturally taking a better "line" in curves, the more you get to know your route, thus shaving the distance?

oh and I believe the faster you go, the shorter the distance becomes... or something like that (see A. Einstein

If you watched me climb a hill, I have no doubt that you would think time itself was slowing. Which means the one and only person I ever dropped (Tuesday morning commute, still being way too proud of myself) was actually dark matter and not a biker. Or something like that. My theoretical physics is pretty rusty. :-)
