Amazon deal of day: VholdR

Amazon deal of the day
http://www.amazon.com/gp/goldbox/ref=cs_top_nav_gb27

Only 99 for a VholdR camera. Not bad..

I've been looking at this camera ever since i've seen joey bikes stuff.
This may be the sign i'm looking for. Deal of the day means all day.. hmmm maybe i'll sleep on it.

Its a good deal, but if I were ever to get one I'd opt for something with more resolution. Possibly HD.

TRN, thanx for the heads-up. I too, have been drooling over this cam since seeing JB's videos, but I wasn't prepared to drop almost $300 on a camera. $120 door-to-door in 2 days I can justify.

It'll be here Thursday!

In looking at their site, it appears the Vholdr is being replaced by the ContourHD, so this is probably a closeout sale:

I just ordered a Kodak ZX1 last night from Best Buy for $150. All of the specs make it look like an ideal bike cam (720 HD, splashproof), but mounting is going to be a puzzle. Good luck with your decision.

It's going to be really funny when we finally pass each other on the Sam. River Trail, each of us with the cam rolling.

Cool, now we can all post 8 minute videos of our commutes! My wife already thinks I'm the ultimate fred because I commute 2 hours/day by bike, then come home and watch JB's bike commuting videos. Ah, she just doesn't get it. JB is a bike ninja and does stuff on camera that I wouldn't ever attempt. He fulfills the dream of what it would be like to be a badass biker in traffic.

Can't wait until it's available on bittorrent! I, for one, will be the first to watch the 15 hour saga.

15 hours just covers the ride. With the commentary and "making of" additions, I'm thinking it's going to be a 5 DVD collectable box set to rival anything Ken Burns has ever done.

It's probably not a good idea for me to own a camera.

Nice - I took the plunge as well. The CountourHD model might be nice but VHoldR has a history (like Garmin) of taking a while to shake out firmware bugs. So I'll stick with the tried and true for now.

Haha i'm glad some other people wanted it as well. I was just buying something else on amazon and came across that. I had really thought about buying it earlier but the price was why I didn't.

Just thought you guys would thought about buying one would like to get a deal : ), who doesn't love deals?

Sadly I do not have anything in HD so I can live without the HD for awhile. Honestly I can't tell the difference but all my friends rub it in my face lol.

Feel free to shoot me a PM any time while you folks are getting up to speed with your new camera.

One thing I like to do is own a wall charger for recharging the battery. Charging the battery in the camera creates a little heat, and you have to time it - they never got the indicator LEDs to work. I don't like heat next to the electronics if I can help it. The wall charger does have an indicator light that works - red to green - when the battery is fully charged.

Can't wait to see your stuff! Be sure to put the word VIDEO in your subject line somewhere so people can find it from the menu easily.

Red-eeeeeee.......ACTION!

We will have to collaborate on a split screen "point of view" movie!

I'll get some aerobars and really bright spandex and you and Clifton can take turns filming me while you pass me on the Burke Gilman.

My VHoldR arrived today, and I'm happy to report that these newer ones must have a firmware fix or something, because my model's battery charging indicator lights work fine, and on top of that the unit didn't get warm at all to the touch during charging.

I am disappointed to see the only mounting option they included was a sticky helmet mount intended for non-vented helmets. I don't want to permanently mount anything on my helmet. So I just ordered from Ebay a "vented" helmet mount that uses an elastic strap instead (to the tune of $30 including shipping).

I guess that's fine, as I need to learn how to start editing videos. I've set up a vimeo account as well.

Sweet! My first camera blew up charging it. So the second one I avoided plugging it in and bought the wall charger. Maybe my camera is good too, but I don't want to find out if it's not!

Keep us posted! Be sure to put the word "Video" in your title line here so it's easy to find.

Cheers!

I have been using my blackberry charger.
Warm HA! you should try touching mine after an hour in the sun @ 108.

If you don't mind the look use the the foam which the thing came in. Cut off the end and mount that on the helmet with velcro.
