Chrome vs. BaileyWorks
Hey, I'm new to this forum, so please excuse me if I'm posing in the wrong area. I thought this fit best. If there's a better section to post, please let me know. I will gladly find it and repost this.
I'm debating wether I should buy a BaileyWorks or a Chrome bag. I intend to use it for carrying necessary bike equipment while riding during the summer and as a school bag during the school year. I'm going to be a senior in high school, and I'd prefer to take this bag with me to college too. If I was going BaileyWorks I'd buy a SuperPro. If I was going Chrome I'm not sure which size to go with.
I would like to hear your opinions on which bag would be better for this job. Would a BaileyWorks bag better fit school books, notebooks, binders, whatever else, or is a Chrome better suited for this? Also, Chrome bags have a lifetime guarantee, something BaileyWorks lacks. Is a BaileyWorks bag so strongly built that I'll never need a lifetime guarantee? Please give me your opinions on these and any other important issues about these bags. Thanks!

either would probably work fine. I have a friend who uses a Chrome bag for exactly what you've described using it for.
I'm looking at getting a Large Timbuk2 bag for senior year/college soon. I can get one for a discount, but i'm not sure I really want to.

I have a friend who has a Bailey Works bag and it's quite well-made. I don't think you'd have any issues with it.
I consider Chrome bags more trendy with the fixie/hipster crowd in Portland, but they are very well-made and fully waterproof.
You'll probably be happy with either one.

I have owned both. It's a personal decision and some will disagree (what a surprise on BF) but I found the Chrome strap to be more comfortable. The Bailey Superpro gives the added feature that allows you to switch from left to right shoulder but I didn't find that to be an issue. Both are excellent quality and will suit you well. I own the Chrome Metropolis which fits a ton of stuff. The Kremlin is huge and may actually be too big. I sold the Bailey Works after using both and being more comfortable with the Chrome. Either way, you will have a bag that will last well past college.

Yeah, I have friends who've had both -- they're both good bags, but I think the Chromes tend to fit folks a little better.

I have a Bailey Works. I think it's got more pockets than a comparable Chrome bag, but i'm sure either one would be great. One thing about the Chrome bags.. since you're in high school, your friends might think it's funny to push the button for the buckle release while you're not paying attention.

I prefer the Bailey;more pockets and less weight.

Thanks for the feedback ya'll. People will definitely hit the belt buckle, but I'm not too worried about that. Seems like it really just boils down to asthetics. Hm.

so are you sold on the messenger bag, or would you consider a backpack? If you're thinking that the messenger bag will ride better or reduce sweat or whatever, I haven't seen that to be the case. I've had both, and right now i'm using an Ogio backpack that's in hi-vis orange. It rides really well.
