Hm, didn't people like the Jack***** pedals?
Also only one bike has drop bars. :| If the smoke came standard with drops I wouldn't hesitate to buy it.

The ***** Inc. is interesting. Better spec'd than a Trek Portland. Too bad they didn't mount the rear caliper in the right location (on the chainstay). Should still be a top contender for the drop-bar disc brake category.

I wish they'd start paint-matching their forks, and get a new designer for most of the steel ones.

That's a sweet setup on the ***** Inc., my Dr. Dew is envious. I'm wondering what the 'Kona Payroll Wheelset' they're showing is comprised of?

This would possibly be of more interest in the touring forum, but it's nice to see that the sutra now has the rear disc caliper mounted on the chainstay, and it looks like they've dropped the horrible seatstay rear rack braze-ons in favour of rear dropout mounting points. This should go a long way to resolving the rack mounting issues which have plagued earlier versions.

Looking at this 2009, it looks like they had already moved the rack mounts. Good catch on the brake move. Looks like they've included fenders as well.
Liked the Mavic rims better than the new stickered-up Alex.

The chainstays on the ***** Inc could be longer.
Some day someone is going to admit that there should be a class of drop bar commuter bikes and design accordingly.

Worldbike looks interesting for a beater @ $400. Not sure about "Shimano Nexus 3sp Coaster Brake" It has front and rear rim brakes, does this sound right?

The three speeds give you a pretty good range too:
Low 12.0 mph @ 90rpm
Med 16.4 mph @ 90rpm
High 22.3 mph @ 90rpm
Kona always had some interesting models.

The Dew Drop also vaguely fits this category, but I'm not really sure what the thinking behind it is, other than somebody having the brain blast that if they put drop bars on a dew they could have yet another bike in their asphalt line.
So what I'm suggesting, instead of having so many of us running around saying how cyclocross bikes and touring bikes make great commuters, why not actually design a bike like this to be a commuter and see what nice tweaks you could make for it.

Well that settles it. The Buzz Road is going back to REI and I'm getting a ***** Inc.
Also glad to see the Dews have nicer colors this year. Wasn't feeling the green and gold.

Would have looked hard at the Super Dew, but I just bought a 2009 Salsa La Cruz, which I love so far.

Well that's just it. Sure, the Sutra works great as a commuter, but it's not designed to be a commuter, so where decisions had to be made they were made in favor of touring (the bar end shifters and MTB cassette jump immediately to mind). The Kona Jake is also a great commuter (it's what I use), but again it's not primarily a commuter (in theory) and so you have things like knobby tires on there by default.
The Dew Drop also vaguely fits this category, but I'm not really sure what the thinking behind it is, other than somebody having the brain blast that if they put drop bars on a dew they could have yet another bike in their asphalt line.

Couldn't agree more. I really like Kona but why can't someone make a 12/27 cassette, 105/ultegra drive train, 36/46 crankset, steel framed, disc braked, Open Sport or Aksium wheeled, fender equipped, rack braze-on'd, WTB seated, carbon seatposted, gel taped/ sti levered bike. Am I such a weirdo for wanting such a machine?
