Better for commute?

Hi all,

I am looking at a commuting bike for city and finished paths. I have found a Trek 950 that is in good shape and been maintained by a mechanic. I also have seen a '07 Trek 7300 aluminum(26lb-ish) that is in great shape too. The 950 has new saddle, v brake rapid shifters/brake levers, and new handle grips. The paint looks pretty good, only a few minor scratches. No trail riding is evident. The asking price is $175 for the 950 and $320 for the 7300. I could afford either and was wondering if anyone has ridden these and could give me some pros/cons of each or which is a better deal frame/component-wise. I've read pretty good things about the 950s but don't know much about the 7300.Thanks.
