I bought that same Schwinn pump. It died in fairly short order. I replaced it with a Joe Blow from Benny's dept. store, which sells crappy bikes but surprisingly nice accessories and parts.

All of the Bell stuff at Wallmarget is available for lots cheaper from amazon. If you have a Prime acct for watching movies, 2 day shipping is free. They also have significantly better brands also for cheaper.

My wife works at Wally World and thus we get the 10% discount. She bought herself an 8 speed Avalon to ride back and forth the 2 mile work. She seems to like it. I think she is has paid more for accessories than she did for the bike itself. Whatever makes her happy. I will enjoy my bike and she will enjoy hers!

My frustration with LBS is they often close at 5 or 6 in the evening, which is just about the time I make it home from the commute, meaning I couldn't visit if I wanted to, so the box stores are appealing. Unfortunately Waly World does not carry the parts I would want anyway, and it would be dangerous to ask their staff for technical recommendations! Therefore REI and Sports Chalet get more of my business, though only REI when I want to mortgage my house.

Sure.

Airplanes were essentially *invented* at an LBS in North Carlina, (w)right?

I get my cable and housing tuneup kits there for fixing up old bikes because its cheap and easy. I don't go to Walmart much anymore because its the farthest away of any store in town I would go to and so I have to have a specific reason to go there. I used to go all the time, but part of that was I dropped off one of my clients very near to one of the Walmarts so I would stop in there to get stuff I needed. I don't hate Walmart, but I don't love it much anymore either.

The Wright's lived, worked, and invented in Dayton, Ohio. They went to Kitty Hawk for field tests.

We don't have a walmart nearby, but I do use their online photo processing and we bought a fair bit of baby stuff there (high chair, diaper pail, etc.) before our daughter came as their online prices were fairly low and it was down to them or some online only vendors (amazon.com or diapers.com) for best prices, so we bought what was cheapest where it was the cheapest. But yes we did hit the lbs (in this case Local Baby Store), too.

Which would be impossible since it is still a highly REGULATED industry.

I was joking, I know it's extremely well regulated as it should be.
