Almost Barfed 3 Times Ride (VIDEO)

Yep. Almost puked twice on the ride, and once when I viewed our run through Downtown and the French Quarter on my PC during editing.

I was so close to getting sick on the ride that I was actually thinking about how I would film that. Should I leave the helmet on my head, or set it down on the ground catching the action? Trust me...I puke during filming and I will post it.

Three parts to this one:

1. Relaxing warm up through and past some "Cities of the Dead".

2. Some fairly fast riding on the Mississippi River Trail (MRT) with some Saturday MUP user action and,

3. Stupid fast ride into New Orleans Downtown and French Quarter with light weekend traffic. Made me queezy editing this part. My riding bud was cutting it close getting to work on time and I did my best to just hang on and keep him on camera. He's like the Energizer Bunny on Crank.

30 Mile Nola Commute (12:06). Editing speed +50%

Downloads
Please join Vimeo or log in to download the original file. It only takes a few seconds.

At bottom right of the page it says that. I'm guessing if you have an account you can download

You can also click the play button, then immediately press pause. Then go for a ride, a nap, or read the newspaper for a few minutes until the whole video loads in your browser. Then click play and it should work. This keeps you from joining Vimeo.

I have the option to allow actual downloads too. I always allow it, but if somehow you find a vid that is accidentally locked up, shoot me a PM here at BF and I will fix it. You have to sign up (it's free) to download.

For the moment, Vimeo is saving the original quality vid for download. They are running out of server space and will soon discontinue storing my original upload. But you will be able to download the version compressed by Vimeo.

Ok, I don't get it. Why were you going to vomit? Were you sick? Riding too hard?

I didn't feel great when I woke up. Usually a ride cures that. But it just got worse. I think I woke up bonked.

After 20 miles we stopped at a store and I got a carbonated sugary drink which made me feel a bit better for the last 10 miles.

So yes, I was sick and riding too hard.

Man, I don't think I've ever seen so many bents in a span of 11mins.

Sweet video. Your camera angle works for you and where you live. There is more history to see in 1 mile where you live than 100 miles here. I'm sticking with my POV angle for the time being. In the fall I might do some scenary vids.

How hot was it that day?

Thanks!

Not bad. Low 90s. Humidity was way high, partly because it rained just before we started.

If a new awlins guy says the humidity was way high, then I can't even imagine how thick and moist the air was. That and low 90's is "Not bad." ???

Most days it's 95F by 9am during summer. I have a thermometer on both my regular bikes. When the needle covers the "5" in 95, I alter my cycling habits. Even tho I am heat acclimated, there is a huge difference between low 90s and high 90s, especially if you hammer hard, then have to stop for traffic in direct sun.

Another great one Joey! Between starting out by the cemetery, the lack of people in most of the video and the decaying industrial sites in most of this video, it sure looks like it could be the setting for a zombie movie.

I don't think I have ever almost puked on any ride.
I have ridden hungover a bunch, but no puking.

Have you seen THIS trailer (1:22)?

Left 4 Dead 2 has NOLA as the backdrop.
