Sunrise This Morning

I'm not usually leaving early enough to get any good sunrise shots. I am usually leaving a little after 6:30a. It probably won't be until the end of the month until the timing is really right. However, we had a layer of fog this morning that added just enough to make the sunrise worth snapping.

That's awesome.

Illinois has some great sunrises/sunsets, especially in the fall.

Yeah, elsewhere I had posted that this was definitely one of the reasons I ride. Just a great way to start the day.

Very nice.

Too bad the sun is always up WAY before me this time of year, and is always up before I leave for work no matter what time of the year it is... 7:30 is about the earliest I've ever left home for my commute. Now I see what I'm missing. It's almost enough to make me want to get out of bed at 5 AM. Naaah, who am I kidding?!

DC slackers LOL! Just kidding! I'm on the bike at 5:30am, but due to the orientation of the W&OD just get to see the powerlines better

Really nice photo, thanks for posting it.

I need to either get a really small, really portable digital camera, or a throwaway I feel ok about just stuffing in a pocket. This is the time of year, with the day length changing so much, that you really see some neat differences from one day to the next.

While I regret summer's coming to a close, the good thing is joy of riding at dawn.

DC slacker... Did someone just say my name?

Don't know how you're out of the house by 5:30. That just seems unnatural to me. I didn't even go to bed until 2:30 last night...

Honestly, though, I'm thinking I do need to get out real early some morning. I bet that the view of the sunset across the Potomac at Gravelly Point with a little fog along the river would be pretty nice. One of these days...

so that's what a sunrise looks like...

gadzooks all of us early risers (on the road by 5:30 am) never get the good stuff.

I should have take a shot of the moon this morning. It was really pretty peeking through some high clouds.

I'll try that next week while I'm up so early.

Great picture. We were coming back from a concert last night after that fog had rolled in, and saw some folks out playing baseball in it. The lights made it look really cool.

Nice photo.

Reminds me of when I used to live on the coast in Virginia. We used to get a lot of cool fog like that.

Not even in the summer? How long does it take you to get to work?

Nice, I thought the tree in the foreground was a palm tree at first. It reminds me of the sunset on Venice Beach for some reason.
