84 rides and 723.66 Miles

and I finally got my first flat...Picked up this unwelcome friend on the commute home today about two miles into the ride but the tire didn't go flat right off..Id heard a funny sound from the rear tire that stopped after five or so seconds after it started, sorta like this crunchy/click with each revolution of the wheel..With it stopping I figured id just picked up a pebble that finally flew out but the hopping from my back wheel grew more pronounced over the next 3/4 mile so I looked at it and sure nuff..Spongy and gettin spongy er..LoL...Used my cell phone to call the wife to bring the van and bail my non self sufficient butt out..

So, um, looks like you got screwed.

Someone was going to write it. Might as well be me.

I figured that was coming... Not only screwed but scared also...I went to wally world and grabbed two new tubes and tires, mounted them and took them for a test drive 9:35 at night...Part way into the test run I figured Id ride back to where I got the flat and then back home so I could keep my miles up and not be cheating on the map my ride stats well one section of the commute is a small windy downhill that is totally devoid of street lights..I made it quickly through that section and pedled the slight upgrade that leads to a flat strip of road about 300 yards long when all of a sudden there is a huge crash in the trees next to me. Mind you it almost 10pm and there is zero light cept for my 1/2 watt Planet Bike Blaze. I almost ****, came out the saddle and was peddeling like a mad man...My hair was on end and my entire body was tingling, I never looked back..Did end up hitting 24 mph on the flat which is a personal best....lol..I took another way back home..
