Helping a friend find a commuter bike.

He is really interested in an internal geared hub bike. He is not interested in building one, so he wants to buy one. One that requires minimal maintenance. Probably straight bars or M shaped bars. A More upright riding position. His commute is fairly flat and only 4 miles or so. Even a 3 speed would probably be enough, but he wants the options of a few gears (some days you are just really tired after work).

We live in Tucson Arizona so fenders are not really needed. And he says he is fine with using his back pack, so no need for a rack, but having the option to add one later might grow on him. He currently rides a mountain bike (an old one) that has seen better days and has been fix enough times that he seems to be thinking seriously about buying a new bike

Thanks for any and all suggestions.
