Someone tried to egg me last night!

I was unicycling home at around 10pm last night on a quite residential road in a mid sized town (pop 30 thousand), and saw an object land on the sidewalk a metre in front of me, with a wet splash. The perpetrators sped off in a green sedan and disappeared around the next corner. Curious about what was thrown at me, I decided to turn around an investigate. It was an egg.

I had seen the same car two turns earlier, so in retrospect it was very likely that they were following me. I've been yelled at plenty of time when riding my bike, but this is the first time I've encountered negative behaviour since I started unicycle commuting this fall. The fact that they had an egg on hand probably meant they were up to no good to begin with.

They're mean spirited and possibly jealous. I'm impressed by unicycles.

I used to throw eggs at pedestrians/bikers all the time when I was younger (read: 20 years ago).

They'll grow out of it.

With the price of food these days, consider it a missed opportunity.

tell the cops - the next time the cops see that car cruising around they will follow it. it may at least get the message to these kids to stay out of your town

Carry a pocket full of spark plugs to throw back.

One of the guys in my rando group had some random plastic object thrown at him on a 200k over the weekend.

Because they were riding on a unicycle or because somebody threw an egg at them?

I've met a couple of unicycle commuters and at least where I grew up, "egging" was not an uncommon form of teenage mischief. I had an egg thrown at me while running one night around Halloween, but that was probably about 15 years ago when I lived in the dangerous suburbs.

You were riding a unicycle? Maybe they were just trying to give you some stuff so you could juggle at the same time!

I'm kidding of course, but if you did catch them and started juggling that would be totally awesome!

Funny it took 11 posts to have someone say something about the unicycle.

in all seriousness there was a kid on my campus who commuted by unicycle. I have no idea why you'd ever want to ride around one of the busiest urban centers on a unicycle but he did.
