Links would be nice.

Also there are different functions for booties. All of these seem to be for rain protection. For those of us in colder climes, warmth is of more paramount interest. For that, it's hard to beat the Performance brand neoprene shoe covers...warm, cheap, tough (over 10 years on current pair).

The J&G and the MEC look interesting for the Southern US tour my wife and I are going on next spring.

None of the above. For the nastiest weather I have a set of Gore covers. For cool weather or light rain I have the Adidas WindCP booties.

I also have a few sets of neoprene booties but find they tend to leak after a few seasons and my feet get soaked. They are otherwise great for cold dry weather.

Which Gore covers do you have? I have a Gore jacket that I really like. I did not realize they made shoe covers. I could not find Adidas booties. are they still manufactured?

Yup, those are the ones. They tend to fit large so you will want to try them on. They also make a roadie version that fits smaller.

You should still be able to get the adidas booties at nashbar.

I have both the J&G and the Showers Pass. The J&G that I got leaked in a typical rain. The Showers Pass will handle anything thrown at it. Its got a big beefy sole, velcro straps to cinch them down. And is totally waterproof. Not form fitting but who cares when you're riding in a torrential downpour. They're expensive but worth every penny and will last. The only con is they don't fold well. If anyone wants to buy the J&G's, I'll sell them cheap with free shipping. PM me and we'll talk. I wear a size 10.

Thanks for the great feedback from actual ownership! Your description matched my perception of what the showers pass would be like. I'm thinking seriously about getting them. I don't wear any bootie most of the time, but on a long ride or commute in lots of rain, I am definitely interested in waterproof performance. I live in a warm climate so freezing my toes off is not too much concern.

Since you don't need them often, do what I did.

Thrift Store buy on sale.
$1.75 Rain jacket XL.
Cut off the sleeves and use electrical tape to secure them around your ankles.
Worked today for 60 miles in the rain.

I vote for number 2: MEC.

I've had the same booties for 4 full seasons. We have very wet springs and late falls here. I have no complaints about them.

Those mec booties are great for the winter/rainy season. Cheap too.

Don't buy expensive waterproof breathable outer-booties, get a liner sock instead.

I use the Sugoi Resistor and have been pretty happy with them. They kept my feet dry in the snow/rain and can be used with road/mtb shoes. The only downside is that they only lasted about 1 season of use. I bought two pairs when they went on sale.

Which model Gore booties do you have?
My wife bought me a set of these for Christmas.

The very first time I tried to put them on, one of the zippers exploded. They were XL, supposed to fit size 47 which happens to be the size of my shoes.
The store took them back, but I could not get a replacement pair, because their distributor was out of stock. All the other brands they had would not fit over my shoes, even in XL.

The problem with those nice expensive booties is they wear out really fast... so it's a waste of money IMHO. The mec ones i have are tough nylon/plastic and you can walk in them... two/three seasons they last then I get a new pair for $30. Plus they're really reflective at night, though that is mainly a style taste.

Great for commuters.

I have XXL Pearl Izumi booties that fit over my size 46 or 11.5 shoes. they have velcro instead of zippers. might be good for you

They are not as cheap for US buyers. I was checking them out earlier this week and was put off by the $5 required membership fee and the $19 (!!!) shipping charge.
