Deciding on the proper panniers for my rack

So I recently purchased a topeak explorer rack for disc brakes and also got a topeak mtx trunkbag dx. I want to get two panniers, but before I do, I want to make sure that they will fit on my rack, I would also like to be able to use the trunkbag with both panniers attached. Right now I am looking at a arkel utility bag for groceries and other situations where one large compartment would be most beneficial. Also looking at getting an arkel commuter for work (laptop, lunch, clothes ect)

Anybody know if these two fit on the topeak explorer rack and if they can be used while having the trunkbag attached? Thanks a lot

We have several bikes with the Topeak racks and trunkbags that have the fold down panniers. With the track the rack uses I don't think you will be able to use the standard panniers. The trunkbag panniers have a large amount of room. Don

See if you can exchange that Explorer for a Super Tourist. The Super Tourist has a secondary rail that is below the rack top. That way you can mount both panniers and trunk easier.

Yeah, I have the Super Tourist on my commuter. Any pannier should fit and yeah it has lower rails so what no1mad said: the panniers won't interfere with a trunk bag.

Your rack is very similar to my Sunlight rack which fits great with my Avenir Metro 3's.

I'm not the happiest about how they secure themselves, 4 straps on top and bungies in the CENTER of the hanging panniers (hard backing) leave them with a lot of wobble-ability. I have a cargo net I use to balance that out though so it's a non-issue for me but might be more significant for you.
