Attachment 148745 1995 Cannondale F400. Buddy of mine at work gave it to me. There are going to be changes made to it: Cranks Handlebars Tires Seatpost Handlebar grips Shifters Brakes I'm selling the Super Sport to help fund a major portion of the project. It's been p*ss*ing me off lately, so I'm giving the Cannondale a shot. I rode it today and it wore my butt out! Riding this should definitely help me get better on the Trek. If anyone can point me in the right direction for some history on these, I'd appreciate. |
You might mention why you want to replace those components.
The tires, I assume you want something more road-worthy. But what's wrong with everything else? I'd put street tires, fenders, saddle, and lights and call it a day. I say keep the Super Sport, and don't make such a huge project out of it. |
Seat post-Seat self adjust.
Handlebar grips- old and sticky Shifters- not a big fan of twist grips Brakes- sorry meant the pads Cranks-outer rings missing teeth Besides, I'm not going to go ultra expensive (nor ultra cheap either). |
Are you keeping the heavy suspension fork?
|
THat is such a great bike. I had the same year frame and shock, a delight to ride, especially offroad. Another bike I wished I never sold.

It might be a way to lighten up the bike some.
|
That is true. What I can't believe is how much lighter it is than the Schwinn. I got to work one day and weighed the Schwinn and it came in around 40 lbs. The vintage Cannondale site says this one weighs 27. Forgot to put fenders on the list too.

I couldn't fathom riding a bike that weighed more than 22-23lbs....

My bike weighs probably 19lbs... which isn't exactly ultra light.
|
The Trek comes in at around 20.5 lbs and it was a big change from the Schwinn. The way I look at, if it's heavier you get a real good workout.
