Electric Air Pump?

Has anyone used this pump? The Bell Multi Purpose Air Pump 06495. Any opinions on this pump?

Honestly, I'm using my car air pump right now. Unfortunately that means I have to lug my bike down to the car to use it since the pump plugs in to the cig. lighter. My mini-pump will be here in a week or two (d*mn REI and their slow shipping)

I found the pump on that site. Here's the link

https://www.pricetool.com/Bell_Multi_...ts_Accessories

or if you prefer linkified

Looks like a cool pump, cheap too! I've been looking for something like that, I suck at patching tubes so i always seem to have a slow leak. I've been just riding to the gas station on the corner every couple of days to fill with air. I wish I could find it locally, I'd probably go get one.

I don't know. Electric pumps are a hastle and generally slow. I bought a Nashbar floor pump on sale for $10 that does a great job. Very fast. For the road I carry a CO2 inflator and 4 cartridges. I have a Topeak Road Morph, which is a GREAT pump, but when I have to change a flat on the way to work I want instantaneous.
FWIW,
Raymond

I"m not a fan of Bell as a pump manufacturer. I have one, and it leaks...

On a side note...I see a lot of people on my campus riding around with flat tires. They know they're flat and ride the bike anyway.

WTF? Is this a new 'fashion' of some sort? When I say flat, I mean...COMPLETELY...not just low.

By the time you get the pump set up and plugged in, you could have your tires pumped up with a floor pump.

Or even halfway with a mini pump. Anything you find bike wise in Wal-Mart et al is CRAP. How many times do we have to say it?

FYI They're only practical with a dynamo hub. The older tire generator dynamos are not efficient enough.

The Campbell Hausfeld inflator I picked up for $25 at Wally-World was purty good. Takes me up to 120 psi faster than you could probably get you valve cap off. Getting my CO2 cartridges for $0.50 a piece is pretty sweet.

I'll take the $1 Bell Water bottle over a $10 poser bottle any day. And those Bell inner tubes rock on my commuter.

  1. From the Lawn and Garden section: Multipurpose not sold a s a "bike" accessory
  2. From Sporting Goods intended (by them) for Air Rifles because who uses them for bikes? (again their mindset)
  3. You pay for water bottles? Most shops I go to give them away.
  4. Bell tubes suck in my experience. I've changed out more than a couple for customers.
I don't disagree with 1 or 2 If it works great but the fact remains that the stuff that they sell for bike is was and probably always will be crap.

I dunno, but after about 10 miles or so their tires are probably going to fall apart and another few miles will earn them broken rims.

Wow, anymore excuses to make up to not buy stuff at walmart? What next you don't go there because you don't like the internal lighting? Jeeze, there are legitimate uses for walmart. You don't always have to go to the LBS and buy things that are x290384 in cost just because it is not "cool" to do so when an alternative at walmart would do it just fine. Your post is covered in so much bias its not even funny.

LBS gives out water bottles? Don't think so buddy, not around here.

With markups like thiers, they can afford to give you the $1 bottle.

I couldn't care LESS where you shop. I don't shop at Walmart because I disagree with thier labor practices, discriminatory policies, shoddy products, and the fact that they kill local family businesses by offering similar products at prices that Mom and Pop can't match.

I don't buy from my local shops because it's "cool" I buy from them because I can trust what they are selling me because, more often than not, they've used it themselves. I know first hand exactly how much markup is on the products sold at my LBS and the end profit ain't that great after you pay the bills.
Q> What's the easiest way to make a million dollars in the bicycle industry?
A> Start with TWO million
As far as my post being biased you damn right it's biased. This is an open Forum and last I checked I was allowed to express my opinions within the Guidelines established by Joe and the Mod Squad. If you don't like it that's not my problem.

For the record I haven't paid for a water bottle in four years and the majority of the bottles I've picked up have been promotional bottles that the vendors drop off every so often so their name or product will "be on your lips". It's not like I get a bottle EVERYTIME I go in the place. On a side note my brother-in-law doesn't pay for bottles either but he gets the bulk of his at races and other events.

I use an assorted variety of pumps depending on what I need or where I'm at. I keep in both cars a standard cheap $20 electric pump purchased at Walmart that I use to fill my bike tires up if needed (I have a schrader to presta valve converter), I have a air compressor in the garage, a floor pump in the basement, and of course a pump on the bike; I guess you could say I'm full of hot air.
