For the Bay Area Commuters - Logistics Question
I currently live in Mt. Vernon, VA and commute about 17 each way to Arlington so I'm used to a longer commute but I'll be moving to Marin County in the fall and, as we look at places to live, I wanted to get some advice from the folks that live there and commute into the city.
If we were to live in Larkspur or San Rafael (where my husband currently lives), is it doable to bike all the way in to SF (Mission Street) or would a combination of ferry/bike work better? How much of it would be on trail versus traffic?
I am really looking forward to the move back to California but being able to keep at least a similar bike commute is really important to me so any advice as to best location, etc. would be so much appreciated.

I'm less familiar with that side of the bay. I do know that San Rafael to San Francisco is at least a 18 mi commute. You do have the option of the ferry/bike for going to work and bike the distant home afterwork which will be easier.
I do suggest you might want to post this same question in the Northern Ca Region Forum section here at BF.
