I think the AirZound saved my skin this afternoon!

Uff... closest one so far. A small car just turned right in front of me, his mirror just passed my handlebar when he started turning. I quickly pulled to the right and blew my AirZound and he hit the brakes and I was able to clear him while he was already at about 45 degrees angle. Otherwise, if he kept going, I would have most definitely bounced off of his car. He looked more scared than I was, so I just sent few four letter words his way and kept riding.

So, I'm never riding without my AirZound! I may get a spare one just in case.

I was thinking about getting one of those but it seems bulky. I usually just scream at the top of my lungs.

It's not that bulky, the bottle goes into a bottle holder and it's really, really loud. You can't scream THAT loud even after being hit

AirZound rocks. not only good for cars, but also

* pedestrians/joggers blasting music into their headphones or "pretending" not to hear your bell
* blowing off steam when someone buzzes you. safer than swearing or spitting

that is so true. That one's going into my quote file, now we're even

I love my Airzound just as much. I have thought of adding a Galeforce siren (sound like a police buzzer sound) along with it in case I ran out or forgot to add air. My idea was to use three 18650 battery in series to get somewhere around that 12v range. My plan is to use the Airzound first to get their attention then blast the Galeforce hoping they think there is a cop nearby who witness what just happen. Off course with my luck, the driver will be an off duty cop

Ha ha ha! You remembered Yeah, I already used your quote elsewhere!!! Yeah, I wish the AirZound lasted longer. On a really bad day I can pretty much use it up during one-way commute It's good for maybe 5 really powerful blasts and then it gets weaker quickly. I was also thinking about electric buzzer/siren, but I think AirZound is good enough for now.

When I first installed my Airzound on my bike I did it in my 12' by 8' mudroom... I tested it there as well... my ears were still ringing an hour later. This thing is freakin' loud!

From the description and reviews it it looks like it has two sounds: plain vanilla airhorn and police siren. So you can just use the airhorn sound. They have a sample on their site.

https://biketacdesigns.com/GaleforceSiren.aspx

Or get the Galeforce Blaster which only has the airhorn sound sans the police siren. I think I may get that one

Where to mount.

I have the AirZound horn and you don't have to mount it in the water bottle cage. I mounted mine on my brake cables in front of the handle bars.
It has also help me a couple of times but most people know that you are there but they don't just care. If there is a cop around then they don't cut in front of me so they know what they are doing..This horn is a nice addition for a commuter bike..Cheers.

Yeah, but I have no problem mounting it in the cage, I have two mounts. Your bottle looks thinner/longer than the one I have.

Up until a week ago I didn't know what Airzound was. Read about it on the Forum and ordered same day. I love mine. I do mostly long rides and need both cages for my liquids here in Sunny/hot/humid Florida. I attached mine above and to the side of bottle cage. I used the supplied velcro and ties and added a velcro strip to make it more secure. Works great. I have the button I can tap with my thumb w/o removing my hand from the handle bars. Great addition. Oh, dogs stop in their tracks or run the other way.

That's the one I have been thinking of getting. It claim to run on 9v from the older unit and down to 6v on the newer unit. I am considering a holder from Batteryspace:
https://www.batteryspace.com/Battery-...ong-20AWG.aspx

This should be enough for the horn plus at that voltage, I can use a 12v car charger which I can charge my iPhone if needed from the pack. Not sure though will I need AW 18650 battery rated at 5A out or just the cheaper trustfire rated at 2.5A output from the battery, but I don't believe the Blaster draw that much current.

As for the mounting, I mount my air bottle on the top of the top tube right in from of the seat post laying horizontal. I used Velcro strip on the tube and zip ties to hold it in place so that I still have two water bottle cage for use.

you don't need to mount it in the cage. here is a pic of my Soho with two water bottles; the AirZound is mounted under the frame (no problems at all!)

Good deal, Adam. I'm thinking about putting a 12V car horn on my commuter bike once I get the 12V light setup finished. I mean, if I've already got the battery on the bike...

Just don't get in the habit of using the horn when you should be using the brakes - I see way too many car drivers make that mistake, and I've seen a couple of accidents because of it.

I had two good experience with a triple squeeze horn.

Both were in Cambridge, MA.

The first was when two pedestrians were jaywalking and I was moving fast. I squeezed the horn, and the pedestrians JUMPED BACKWARDS onto the sidewalk!

The second was when a car was right-hooking me. I hit the horn. He stopped. I proceeded to pass him on the right. He honked back at me in anger, because I was "just" a bike.

aley makes a good point, though. Don't get cocky.

Oh no, I always have fingers on the levers when riding in the city and I never hesitate to squeeze them I'm not the cocky type, I really want to avoid any injuries and other problems. BTW, I ordered that electric horn, I'll let you know how it works!

Yes, I also mounted mine so I can press the button with my thumb without removing my hand from the bar.

My only two problems with AirZound is that it's all weak plastic and that the horn itself needs to be mounted on the bars. Besides making it harder to install it exposes the horn in a way that it can be damaged if you lean the bike against something or put it down on the ground.

I already messed up mine by leaning the bike against a lamp post. Ideally, I'd like a horn that can be mounted away from the handlebar and just have a small button to press on the bars, that's why I ordered the electric horn, I'm curious if that will improve the situation.

I'm thinking of doing that before the Winter. I have the MagicShine front light. I want to get another one plus two of their new rear lights. I'd like to have only one battery to worry about, plus a spare, even if that means charging it EVERY day. I wonder if the horn will run off of the MagicShine battery.

I believe it will work off the MS battery even at the lowest voltage of the pack which will be about 7.4v. It is rated to work at 6v so in theory, yes. You may not get the 122 db and get so call only 118 db. That still is a lot. I'll find out soon enough. I also ordered the Blaster yesterday. They shipped it within two hours after I placed the order. Darn that fast. So if you hear ehco from your horn, that's will be me in the west coast
