Jamis Commuter 3

Hi. I went to a LBS looking for a Torker Graduate but was suggested that I instead think about a Jamis Commuter 3 I don't think they were trying to steer me to the more expensive bike for the heck of it. But I was wondering if anyone had experience with this mac
hine. All input appreciated. Thanks on advance.

Starting my third season with a Jamis Commuter 3 as a winter & bad weather bike.
So far it is has been very satisfactory. The plain Nexus hub has worked well in all sort of weather and cold. Mounted 35 mm studded snow tires on it, they just barely fit under the fenders. Replaced the chain mid season last winter. The stock handlebar was sort of a mustache shape, which I replaced with an Origin 8 "space bar", looks like an On One Mary handlebar - much more comfortable for me. Don't think the newest Commuter 3 models have the mustache bar. I also installed Kool Stop salmon brake pads - these are just my preference, put them on all of my bikes.
When I got the bike, not many similar bikes on the market, now there are several
choices - no buyer's remorse or second thoughts on this model.

Awesome. Thanks very much.

Your comments seem pretty in-line with what I've read about Jamis bikes. I had never previously heard of them before the suggestion by my LBS. After three seasons, you have not had to replace the rims? I had heard that was a downfall of the rim brakes, as opposed to disc or drum, that you have to replace the rims after a few sets of pads.

Thanks again. Really.

Anyone else have experience with either of these bikes?
