Now that's funny! FWIW, since I got tired of being called out on service calls like the one you described, I taught both my wife and my teenage daughter about basic vehicular and bicycle maintenance so that they can change flats, etc. on their own.

I got all excited by the first line of your post (before seeing the pic), thinking your wife was also a bike commuter. I thought, "how cool, they both commute". But it's great you had "backup" transportation

I am backup on her bike too, but I've never had to fix a flat on her bike.

Years ago I got a flat on the way to work (driving a car, before I discovered public transit). When I got there, I explained that I was late because I had a flat tire. The women in the office asked "Oh my goodness! What did you DO?" "Uh, I put the spare on." They were amazed at my mechanical ability. None of the car freak MEN in my life are amazed at my ability. I've wrenched a bolt or two in my life, but I'm basically clueless. When I was putting on that spare, I made the same bonehead mistake that I make EVERY SINGLE TIME -- jack up the car, attempt to loosen first lug nut, remember that you are supposed to loosen them BEFORE you jack up the car, put car back down, loosen nuts, complete job.

The Drive Side is Within
Stop putting bearings in your wife's valves just to make a point about bike commuting... someone could get hurt!

Reminds me of the time my little brother called asking if I would ride to his school with his spare key since he locked himself out.
I have stopped on a couple bike trips to see if people with a flat on their car need any help.

Good work!
At my last job, I was on my bicycle leaving work, when I see some lady in the office parking lot trying to put the spare on. She looked clueless.
I helped with it while showing her how to do it. She thanked me immensely. Was my good deed for the day.

OTOH, I would not be surprised if someday your daughter calls to thank you for showing her how. Wives, OTOH, will save it up with a line like "Oh Yeah !, remember the time you MADE me change a tire for PRACTICE !:....

It's nice that you bought a car that matches your bike.
