As the last young lady said, "Biking... it's a better way."

Glad someone has picked up on the fact that a lot of new commuting cyclists are women.

the more female riders, the better.
less of them walking with their cell phones in hand not paying attention. the few confrontations I've had with pedestrians are with females, I'm telling yeah, and they kiss their mother with that mouth.

One of the DOT email newsletters I got recently mentioned that the percentage of women bike commuters is on rapid increase in NYC. They attribute that to the fact (another poll they've done) than women are more sensitive to safety and comfort issues than men are, and the recent improvements in bike infrastructure and overall increase in the number of bike riders increase the perception of safety and are likely to encourage more women to ride.

I miss the city sometimes. We moved out of Astoria in '04 before all the new infrastructure went in.
