For those commuters who prefer dropped bars, has anyone had any experience with Jamis' newly introduced Bosa Nova. It appears to have a very comfortable setup for commuting with the same bars as the Jamis Aurora.
I have been strongly considering a Jamis Coda for my next bike, thinking a road bike would just be too uncomfortable as I am getting older, but the Jamis Bosa Nova looks enticing and comfortable.
I plan to try the Bosa Nova and the Aurora in the near future to compare it to the Coda.
Would appreciate hearing from anyone with experience on either bike.

You'd want a bike with a comfort geometry. Both commuter and road bikes are made with it. They generally have compact frames with sloping top tubes to shorten the reach between the seatpost and the bars, creating a higher more upright riding position than is possible on a traditional geometry bike.

I did a test ride with the Aurora and enjoyed it a lot, but since I commute downhill in the rain, I'm very interested in disc brakes. The 2010 Aurora has more the gearing and chainstay length I desire, though, since I also like carrying things like a 30lb bag of rice back up said hill at a reasonable cadence. Wish the Elite didn't cost so much.

I have the Jamis Aurora Elite and I'm very happy with it. The brakes work extremely well even in the pouring rain, which is why I went with the Elite (to get the disc brakes). It's my first drop bar bike. I used to commute on a Jamis Citizen 1 (a hybrid comfort bike), and I much prefer my Aurora Elite. It's not as cushy, but there is way less effort to make it go- and that's particularly apparent on hills. I routinely have 40 - 50 lbs in my panniers with absolutely no problem whatsoever.

I have a 2008 Aurora that I bought new. It's been a comfy, reliable bike with a good ride. I loved it and thought it was the greatest thing until I got my fixed gear bike.. then my lighter sport bike, both bikes are around 10 lbs lighter, and I REALLY notice it on takeoffs and hills.

Of course, most commuter forum posters seem to have an 'it's not a race' attitude, so with that thought in mind, the Aurora is a great bike.

I have been riding a 2009 Aurora for almost a year now. It's a great commuter. I like how easy it is to adjust the height on the handlebars. The only problem I have had is 2 spokes in the back wheel have broken. I'm about 200 lbs and not overly abusive to the bike, so my LBS is seeing about warrantying the rear wheel.
