universal light fixing?
Does anyone know if one of these exists?
I've now got a couple of front lights that work perfectly well but the original brackets have broken.
I'm thinking of just taping them to my handlebar.

I guess pretty much all manufacturers have their own idea of a good bracket, so universal brackets would be difficult to make. You just may have to be creative. Tape makes it a hassle to remove and re-attach the lights. How about zip ties, rubberbands or hose clamps?

Call the companies up and see if they'll send you a bracket.

I bought some heavy-duty velcro with adhesive backing and put one strip on each light and another (making sure it was the corresponding texture) on the handlebars of all my bikes. It makes switching easy and the grip has been reliable and strong.

Zip-ties, definitely zip ties. The usefulness of zip-ties are neck to neck with duct tape.

I just spent a Sunday afternoon in the shed, creating the ultimate bike lamp mounting. It started as a crash-damaged crank, but after a bit of hack-sawing, filing and drilling, it is now a fork-mounting block with a pivot point for a section of chainring with a lamp on the end.
If I can hold of a digicam, I'll send a pic, and one of the remains of the crank.
