PSA: 25 % off panniers, lights, and cyclocomputers @ REI

I feel like such a shill. My girlfriend knows I need a set of panniers, and told me REI is having their fall sale, and that these are marked down. Turns out other bike stuff is, too. So this is a public service announcement: if you need panniers, lights, or a speedometer, the getting is good right now.

Yeah, ski season is on the way and my local REI has now rotated all of the cycling apparel to the back. This will be my first fall/winter commute and I can't wait to ride in it.

Yeah, well I don't even have an REI in my state. I'd gladly trade one of the two Bass Pro's for an REI...

I'll trade you an REI for a Bass Pro Shop. We've got 4 REI's all within cycling distance from me, and the nearest big box outdoor outfitters is the Cabella's superstore, 100 miles away.

I took advantage of this yesterday. I got 25% off a mini-pump and used the 20% coupon on a Showers Pass jacket.

I picked up a pair of Ortlieb Front Rollers. They are smaller than the Axiom Lasalles I've been using for touring. I couldn't fit all my food in one of the front rollers. Nuts! I was thinking of using the 20% off coupon for a Shower's Pass jacket too.

I used my 20 % off coupon on a set of DelTour (?) panniers. I like the pockets, and the way they work, plus they mount out of the way of the disc brakes. It's pouring out, and I need to go for a ride shortly, so they should prove themselves useful in a moment...

I got this yesterday (Saturday), didn't use my 20% off coupon as this item was on sale "on its own".

It is $65+tax vs. $100 MSRP on Timbuk2.com. For some reason, the same bag, except it's all black was not on sale @$100. However, the 25% discount applies to it so it's $75, but still, more expensive than the style I got.

This bag is exactly what I have been looking for: An affordable (after the discount), quality, waterproof, easily detachable bag that is styled for on/off bike use.

Rode it today for my 2.3 mi. x2 commute and I'm happy with it thus far. I can fit my Macbook, 2x 1in. binder, a jacket, my 13 year old Ti-83 calculator and few pieces of academic supplies. It's not noisy at all, and offer quite a stable ride.

A more detail review coming up after I spend some more time with it.

ordered the front roller classic Ortileb in yellow to match the back roller classic in yellow and a real good sale.
Going to go to the store later this week and get something for 20% off probably the Showers Pass jacket.
