I tested that exact light. It's not as good as you think. I took it back the next day. Photos here:

I'm not worried about brightness, I like the idea of a large 4x6" lit area over a super bright 1x1" square.

I have been using the PBSF for about two years now. No complaints. I PC7ed it to my fender. If at any point in time I need to replace it, I will replace it with the Magicshine tail light

I have a 2-watt Xenon-strobe yellow blinker on my winter bike. It is amazingly bright compared to my PB SuperFlash. I sometimes run both together so there is a backup light running in case my lead-acid battery runs over its 40 minute charge.
I have this strobe on this bike for a number of years. I did burn out one bulb... actually the wire lead snapped and couldn't be replaced.

I have had a white / red coloured superflash, and a black / clear coloured superflash. I smacked the white and red one against a table while it was on the back of the bike, breaking the white backing. The black and clear one, the clear front half bounced off down the road one night and made a really awesome POP as a truck ran it over.
Now I have a superflash made with a red front piece and a black back piece, and it looks sweet.
They're pretty good lights for the money, but in the last year or so a few new really good options have been popping up as well. Those Radbots are very bright, and solid competition.

I have a PB Superflash, a Niterider Cherry Bomb and a Radbot 1000. I also had the Mars light on the rack of my old bike.
All of them are great for pitch black riding, but the Cherry Bomb and the Radbot 1000 really stand out. On my current bike, I have the Radbot 1000 on the seat stay, the Cherry Bomb on the back of the saddle bag, and the PBSF attached to my backpack. The Radbot is on steady, whilst the other two are on flash mode. I keep my tail-lights on during the day for extra visibility. As good as the Cherry Bomb is for night-time riding, I find that it does not do such a good job during the day. The PBSF is much better for daytime riding.
I'll also echo the comments made by others here RE the PBSF falling off when going over big bumps (the Cherry Bomb has done this too). I've had this happen a couple times, where it's worked its way loose of the little loop on the backpack/saddle bag. Now I hold it on by using electrical tape beneath the loop.
When I get the new commuter bike, I'll definitely be putting a Radbot on the back of the rack. The Mars is also good for rack mounting, but I don't think it's anywhere near as bright as the Radbot.

I currently have the Cherry Bomb attached to the back of my helmet. Been doing some research on what rear blinky to get next. It'll probably be either a PBSF or Radbot, whichever I can get at a better price.

The Planet Bike Super Flash is now a has been light. The Blackburn Mars 4 beats it hands down as the RadBot 1000.

My PBSF only lasted 8 months, it was made cheap and when it failed I tried to get it replaced under warranty but after 3 months of many e-mails and some phone calls got me nowhere but waisted a bunch of time for a $20 product I gave up and bought the Mars 4. The Mars 4 uses a slightly thicker grade of plastic and doesn't feel cheap like the PBSK. Which has me concerned about the Radbot, it looks cheap, but I've never saw one in real life. Also the Mars 4 has 2 separate LED's on the side for lighting up the amber sides giving a way better side illumination then the PBSF. I have the Mars 4 for only 5 months so the long term report cannot be made yet.

On my commuter, I run a MARS 4.0 on steady on the back of my rack, and a PBSF in superflash mode on the left rack stay.
Thinking about getting the Magicshine tail light though, since I already have the headlight. Actually haven't used the headlight much, as I have another headlight already there, but I should probably use the Magicshine. It is insanely bright.

The next one I get (if not a dynamo light or something) would be a radbot. They look saweeeet!

The flash patterns are different than the Dinotte but still not bad. And at night I use it in steady mode anyway.

The Dinotte isn't within everyones reach from a $ standpoint I realize, and even if it is the more frugal will pass - a fact I fully understand. But the reality still is it's the standard that always arises that others are compared to.

You gonna eat that?
I'm currently running PBSF but the Radbot 1000 is catching on locally. One of the LBSs is really enamored with them, and I can see why. Much brighter than the Superflash for about $5 more.

Yeah, but it still can't hold a candle to the 400. I'm not anti-magicshine, they're an incredible value for the $, but certainly not the quality of the Dinotte. I think a lot of users are starting also to see the MS "tax" in finding out that the battery packs and the units don't have the longevity that they expected. And to be fair, the $29 doesn't include the battery pack for the MS which creates a single point of failure - the battery pack or y-cable dies and you're front and back in the dark. N+1 just adds to the cost and the delta narrows.

I feel that the level of light of the 140 / Magicshine is just about ideal. Even when riding in fog/rain I don't really see any reason for the kind of light that the 400 puts out. And even if I did, I would take the same approach that Dinotte does: Buy two lights. The 400 is just two 140s. For $60 I could have two Magicshine lights, and that should be an identical level of light output to the Dinotte 400.

Nope, THIS is the cheapest PBSF clone you'll find. I've tested it against the SF here and it comes out very favorably. The mounts are even interchangeable. I now run one of these as my 2nd light on my helmet.

Riding at 3-3:30 am and at the speed I ride I don't have much issue with blinding others overtaking me on the trail. Like I've even seen one in the last few months

I have a 400 and a 140. My 140 is also an AA unit running rayovac hybrids. Never an issue even wet.

I have 2 PBSFs. One is 3 years old, the other is 2.
I'm not well versed on lights released in the past year or two, but the PBSF is bombproof, runs 150 hours on strobe, and has a more eye catching pattern than lights twice as objectively bright.

I bought some cheapo blinkies from DX, one is a clone of the PBSF and it's quite bright. But I have two PBSFs coming too. Dinotte is just too expensive for me. I'm sending my two Magicshine tail lights back. Both malfunctioned within 6 weeks: the center high power LED stopped working on each. Plus the ring is really a pain in the neck to use.

Most reckon the Boomer is brighter than the PBSF, too. It's certainly better and more thoughtfully built, as well as way more stylish.
The only rub is that mounting is limited to seat post, and because it mounts basically flush to the post, you'll need a fair amount of exposed post space, like maybe 3.5".

If you already have a Magicshine headlight, then their tail-light is the way to go. For $30, it is brighter than anything else in that price-range. If you need a better headlight as well, consider buying Geoman's Commuter 900 pack, which includes a headlight, tail-light, battery pack, connector cables and O-rings, and a battery -- all for $120.
I have used PB Superflashes for years with no problems. Mine have never fallen off when hitting bumps, etc., and they put out a lot of light for an AAA system. I also have a Dinotte 140, which is extremely bright but expensive and difficult to mount. I would buy the Geoman/Magicshine over the Dinotte at this point.
