My new commuter... CAAD8 to Gary Fisher Mendota

I have been commuting on my CAAD8 for 3 years. Lately I have been looking at what to get as a dedicated commuter and today brought home the GF Mendota.

Here are some pics...

Just off the car from my LBS

Larger grips and bar ends

Mountain bike SPD's (platforms on for test riding, rides at the park, camping)

Headlights and speedo

Frame bag and two bottle cages

Rear rack

Small bag

Large bag with zip out panniers

Taillights

All done and read to ride

Looking into a handlebar bag now and will do some lighting upgrades shortly to a nice rechargeable system.

Thanks,
James

I was eyeballing an used GF Mendota on C list. Looks like a really sensible commuter.

here's my medona commuter. its a 2009 model that was heavily discounted from my LBS. Pic taken on Governors Island this month. Thats wallstreet in the background and the staten island ferry.

Govenors island is NYC's little biker's utopia (no cars only bikes throughout the whole tiny island) but its only open in the summer until october 10... bummer...

I've actually changed it up added some soma sparrow bars and a longer stem. I did have some origin 8 space bars (similar to a milan bar) but it still wasn't as comfortable as I wanted a bar with even more sweep.

yes, I just ordered the rear fender that connects to the bottom of the Topeak rack, still looking into the front.

looking good! my purchase was similar… 2010 a few hundred off from my LBS.

Governors Island sounds sweet even if only open part of the year!!

Been researching lighting… need another couple of paychecks first, lol.

Added a few more commuting goodies...

Topeak handlebar bag...
I like the bag, it comes with a riser to mount your speedo or light on to raise it up over the bag which is good as the bag mount takes up some space on the bars.

AirZound horn...
This is really neat and works very well... and it's LOUD!!

Sorry for the camera phone pics.
