My commute times depend on day and season.
Morning (bike 5.3 miles; car 4 miles)
Normal bike time is around 15-20 minutes
Monday-Thursday car time is 15-30 minutes (traffic)
Friday car time is 10-15 minutes
Evening (same distance)
Bike time around 30 minutes (love hills)
Car time is 20 minutes
Winter times add another 10-20 minutes for all times due to snow, ice and traffic issues. The drivers around here have to relearn how to drive in the bad winter weather EVERY year.

Car: 3 min
Cycling: 6 min
Walking: 15 min
The walk from the parking lot to my office is 7 minutes, which makes cycling my fastest commute option by 40%.

always rides with luggage
One-way times (~12mi):
Bike: 50-55min (avg)
Car: Not sure, only driven it at commute time a few times... think it's 30min or so.

6 miles one way. By car, door to time clock, 15 - 20, traffic and lights willing. By bike 25 - 30 in the morning and 35-40 mins in the evening. I'm on top of a bit of a hill.

Hey Speedwagon, when you're done, how about posting some of the summary statistics for us? I'd like to see a graph of bike times versus car times, with the regression equation and r^2 for the relationship. Does that make me a hopeless geek?...Wait, don't answer that...

Approximately 1.2 miles one way: anywhere from 5-10 minutes on my current commuter (24" bmx). It inspires me to see so many people who ride an hour or more each way. I'm saving up for a real commuter bike, and next year I will definitely be doing an hour or more each way. I just hope I can handle it.

By bike (4.5 kilometers):
12-15 minutes with summer tires
15-20 minutes with winter studs
By car (about the same distance):
6-8 minutes in ideal conditions (rare)
15-20 minutes on high traffic days (more common)
40 minutes after the first snowfall of the season, as other drivers have Snownesia ("What's this white stuff???")
By bus:
Far too long. Winds around the various neighborhoods trying to find friends. Takes at least 20 minutes going and as much as 30 coming home.
If I wanted to take the bus to my usual pool before work (10 kilometers from home) I could get on an "express" bus that would take 45 minutes to get there. I can ride in 35 (winter in the dark) and have done it in 25 minutes in summer.

For me, probably 10-12 minutes by car, about 6miles.
Bike route is 7.8 miles, maybe 50min to work, 40 home due to terrain. Yes, I know, my speeds suck.
