shopping for a fender
i bought a 2004 cannondale bad boy and i want to know what knid of fender can be used on the back. it has a unique seat stay design doesn't look like it would accomodate a clip on. is there anyone else out there who knows what fits on this particular bike?

I have a 2001. I bought a set of zefal road fenders as they were the narrowest I could find. The stays that came with them were too short so we had to work around that by making different ones out of steel rods. We did use the mounting hardware that came with the stays. To make the stays tight, I used heat shrink on the ends of the rods before putting on the mounting clips. We had to remove the metal mounting clamp from the front fender. It was of no use, because there isn't a mount for it on a Bad Boy fork. We drilled 2 holes in the tops of the fenders to run the zip ties through. We then zip tied them on, front and back. 2 zip ties over the fork and 2 on the seat stays in the back. I can take them of in a matter of seconds and put them back on in a few minutes. It isn't the most stylish set up but is does keep the bike and myself a lot cleaner.

thanks for the reply.this really helps. i was starting to think of getting some bendable plastic lengths from a local hardware store cut to size and then drill them for the zip tie method as you used.

Have you thought about using a rack? The Jandd Explorer racks have a bit of metal down the middle that would help block a lot of road spray and reduce the risk of skunk stripe on rainy days. The rack may also come in handy for bringing stuff to-and-from the office or grocery store.
