...A nifty cyclist-oriented coffee place. Complete with a shower. Loads of room to bring your bike right inside. Tools if you need to repair anything. A tire pump. Coffee, food, etc. Pretty cool place. Only adds about 4 blocks to my commute, so I'll probably be going in there regularly. Here's a Link to an article about it.

Not only did I actually encounter another cyclist going the same way for the first time in 3 years of off-and-on bike commuting, but I actually quite easily passed him up a hill. And a big beautiful dog that hadn't been in his yard for the past couple of weeks was out again being all silly and playful. So a very good morning.

so warm!
Great weather (18C and sunny), my first commute of this year with only a t-shirt and shorts, the rest have been between -6C and 9C so a nice jump in temp.
A great 28km though I forgot my watch and really don't know how long I took, I don't really care it was just that nice!
I did forget to bring a change of shirt to the office though, so had to quickly dash out to wally-mart nearby for a new one...

Gorgeous morning. 8C, not a cloud in the sky, almost no wind. A few hot-air balloons were out this morning.

I thought last week was hot, but this week is looking even worse with the high for today forecasted at 98 F with a heat index around 105. Not looking forward to my afternoon commute, but maybe it won't be so bad if the humidity drops. I was drenched when I got to work this working with temps in the low 70s because it was muggy.
We've had highs in the 90s almost every day for the past week and it's expected to continue for the next week. I am gutting it out so my body can get acclimated to the heat and humidity. I just wish the hot weather has eased in a little slower. We went from having highs in the 70s and low 80s to mid-90s with no transition. It's like someone flipped a switch.

Hot and humid, but not too bad this morning. I felt pretty fast, but I don't know, as I failed to start either of my timing devices. This evening? I think I'll be taking it a bit slow, as the temps are supposed to be in the mid 90s with a heat index pushing the perceived temp up close to 100f.
Lots of bikes out this morning, almost enough to call the CCT crowded.
Did a 32 mile 'fun' ride yesterday, and was amazed how good I felt at the end.

First commute back after a week-plus trip to Seattle, Alaska, and BC. Let's just say that 85 degrees at 8:30 AM is a bit of a shock after a vacation in places where the high was anywhere from 55 to 72 and even cooler out on the water in the cruise ship.
Shock to the system as this morning's heat was, it still felt good to be riding again. Only "riding" I did was a few trips to the cruise ship's gym for 30 or 45 minutes here and there on the exercise bikes. Not nearly as good as the real thing.

The switch was thrown late last week which turned on summer on Long Island. This weekend was muggy at times but for today a bit of a breeze developed and the humidity dropped a bit. The ride to work this AM was pretty quick and with temps in the mid 70s, lower humidity and glorious sun, I felt it was really a shame to have to go to work.
Over the weekend I found that I need a new freewheel on my commuter, gotta order that today to install it next weekend.

funny commute this morning. this one old dude yelled out while passing me "get the F off the street". i don't know why he yelled that out. i was on the side of the road and out of his way. the funny part is he had to stop at a red light up ahead and i caught up to him. i looked at him and he just kept on lookling forward. i was gonna go knock on his window but he's an old man so i just went about my business.
also what is up with these drivers and their california stops. (not stopping behind the line first at a stop sign).

Today was the grand opening of our building's new bike room. No great shakes: just a big room with some stand up bike racks in the middle of the floor. But it's accessible only by key card and it's free.

Beautiful weather. Had a great ride in on my summerized winter bike. Put on skinny tires and flipped it to fixed gear and had a very fast ride. I was passed by a guy on a Cervelo (I was already doing 31 kmph) but kept pace with him. Felt good to keep up on my 1985 Peugeot SuperSport rescued from the garbage - with only 1 gear to boot.

The ride home was like this:
It's in the 80s. And humid. Maybe I shouldn't have been trying to catch, pass, and/or drop everything on two wheels. I went by a couple of teens who were standing well off the MUP. One of them yells, "Whoa! Whoa! Slow down there!" I was only doing 20. I did an S-turn and spooled up to 25 for a little while.
(Keep in mind the MUP I ride is largely open, traffic-wise. Not like a crowded city MUP.)

It was 80+ here in NY. Rode 4.5 in the morning when it was cooler. Coming home was a bit harder. It was rush hour very hot and a headwind formed around the RR. where I have my commute ride. I stopped for water. Bought rice at a Chinese place for dinner. I plan on changing my handlebars as I think its too high for me but I can't lower the stem anymore. I have those comfort bike handlebars.

Decent ride home at 64f sky was gray and had a pretty stiff cross/tail wind which made for a quick ride home

Share the road.
45F on the way in; it rained and I was unprepared so my wife rescued me. I am glad we have a Suburban because the Big Dummy doesn't fit into too many vehicles.

ultra windy here in the Twin Cities but fortune smiled on me and it was at my back. Averaged 16.2 mph where my previous best had been 15.6. Plus after three days rest even afterward I feel GREAT. Thank you, kind tailwind!

A very nice ride in at 74 F ( 23 C). The forecast is for severe thunderstorms this afternoon, but I could get lucky.

64F/18C and a thunder storm had just blown through, so everything was wet. I stopped to talk to a pedestrian on the MUP, but she completely ignored me! How rude! So I took her picture.

53f Nice morning the skies are sort of looking better, maybe we'll actually get some sun today. I've already gotten ahead of myself the last few days I've been packing my hot weather jersey in my pannier hoping for the chance to use it.
