Rain, 80F/24 C, high humidity.

I didn't get one honk, shout, glare, or close pass! I guess I get props from drivers for riding in the rain.

The rain was nice in that it cooled me down, especially since I caught about 2/3 of the red lights.

9.25 mi, 58 minutes, 9.58 mi/hr. I'm running slow these days but I spent a year mostly away from the bike, tho.

I got a couple free tune-ups with the purchase of my new road bike. I'm sure I could do a good job of it but why not take it to the pros. I trust these guys. Anyway, just picked it up after two days in the car. I'll be back on two wheels in the AM. My starting temps will determine if it will be a bicycle or a motorcycle. HAhHahaa

Hottt. Not looking forward to tomorrow, which will be worse. Today I rode with a co-worker who was quite a bit slower than me, so the ride didn't even feel like a workout, but it was nice to have some company for a change.

Hot with leftover humidity from yesterday's rain. As usual, I was a little faster going home. I pushed myself right to my limit on the way home this morning. I'm hoping I didn't burn totally out for this evening's commute.

Got a flat last night from hitting a rock. Patched it up and was on my way. This morning was nice, but very humid.

Back on the road today, nice ride in, beautiful morning. The joggers were baheaving themselves but there were at least three close calls on the MUP where I met ID10T's on comfort bikes riding in the oncoming (my) lane. Perhaps it was "Drive like you're from England" day and I didn't get the memo?

It's not supposed to be anywhere near as hot as the last two days that I was grounded by repairs. Missed opportunity for hot weather badassery.

hot (and the ride home's going to be hotter). had to pannier it because I had to take my laptop back in to work and it wouldn't fit in my cycling backpack. Not a fan of the way that effects the handling of the bike (especially when I'm using one hand to push the bike and the other to push my daughter's stroller to day care for the first 0.5-0.75 mile of my commute).

Had my life flash before my eyes when a huge dump truck (with tire tops at eye level) passed me with about a foot to spare. I screamed at him, but I don't think he heard me over his engine noise. Didn't see the company/phone number on the side (was too busy trying to stay as far over as possible (he was squeezing me in to some parked cars) and it wasn't written on the back.

Steamy. The heat from the midwest and south is finding it's way to the Northeast. Warm, not quite hot this AM, but humidity was over 80%. Other than a lot of sweat, nothing special to report. Ride home should be really sweaty, winter can't come soon enough!

Stopped for some groceries along the way home incl. some supplies for my overnight this weekend. It was hot but bearable as long as I was moving. First traffic light I had to stop at after 20 minutes or so of non-stop riding I went from comfortable to hot and drenched with sweat in about 3 seconds. 84 degrees already for this morning's commute. Today's high 100, tomorrow's 103.

Took my road bike instead of my mtb today, got Double P'ed. Avoided a pot hole, the line I chose took me over a wire that I didn't see ahead. To focused on the pothole, punctured both my front and rear.....

If it was just one tire I would have just patched it up on the side of the road and continued on but I didn't feel like fixing both tires so I just walked the bike to the next bus stop and loaded it onto the next bus to work. Gradually patching up my tires at work for the ride home tonight. Fun fun, now I remember why I started riding my mtb instead of my road bike to work.

60F, misty. After a week of concerted effort got the odo on my LHT over 10k (2 yrs to 9k, 27 months for that last 1k, and 400+ of those were May '10), so am back riding fixed again.

Holy god it's hot. Ride in was okay, maybe low 80s and huuuumid, and I had to wring the sweat from my jersey before hanging it up. Having a bent tooth on one of my cassette rings complicated things, since it was a middle gear that I normally use a lot...ride home was two hours of misery, but at least there weren't any casual riders and pedestrians clogging up the paths. Sucks to say, but I'm glad I'm driving tomorrow.

took the short way home because I was running late, but the short way means lots of lights and sprinting to keep up with traffic between them. Dropped my chain trying to do a quick shift and ended up taking longer than my normal more sedate route.

82F/28C, dewpoint 68. Not horrific, but not very comfortable, either. The ride home will be sticky for sure.

Lots of roadies heading the other way. A group ride of some sort.

60f Quick ride in thought I was late, which I wasn't. Saw three of the riders again from yesterday and two new ones, kinda weird that all of a sudden I'm seeing people riding around this early.

Happy Friday!!

Had a great ride this morning in 20-ish C temps with a light head-wind to keep me cool. Spent a little more time on the drops than usual and really felt the different positioning cutting through the wind! I keep trying to leave earlier so I can extend my ride a few more km, but my kids consistently have other plans...
Still managed to cross paths with the Friday morning group ride from of Orillia, on my way into Barrie.

Might sneak out for a spin around the bay at lunch, supposed to be hot by then but I love the heat and have a spare shirt for the afternoon, if needed. Unless my wife calls and wants to have lunch together, of course. That is always a nice option!

Cheers!
Scott

Stopped off for some groceries on the way home last night, incl. a gallon of milk, some eggs, and ground beef from the organic grocer. A gallon of milk in one pannier up front with a lot less weight on the other side tends to pull the steering in that direction... note to self: keep loads balanced for this weekend's s36o.

Likely to have the hottest day of the summer today. They're still calling for a high of 103 and a heat index of 115-120. Decent commuter traffic volume this morning on the way in considering that.

Looking forward to a good 70 miles in the saddle both tomorrow and Sunday. Thank goodness it's largely shaded with lots of places to get water and opportunities to swim (illegally) in the river to cool off.

Have a great weekend everyone! As my friend texted me a couple minutes ago, stay hydrated and have fun!

Enjoy the trip. In addition to water, you'll need to replace electrolytes. The towpath is cooler, but will still be hot. Take it easy out there.
