I've been retrenched... another month of pedalling and then I'm done. Not too sure what lies ahead, but I do know I've pretty much had it with office work.

Anyhow, I'd just like to send out some big thanks to all of you. I remember when I started, I really struggled (physically and mentally) the first few weeks (months I guess) but kept telling myself that there are dudes out there pedalling heavier bikes over further distances in worse weather - because thanks to this forum, I knew there were
I know I haven't contributed much here, but that's only because there's so much excellent advice coming from far more experienced riders. Big up yourselves to all of ya

Swoop, cycling for many of us, whether it be commuting, touring, etc is really "escape-ism. It is our way to have time to ourselves, to conquer, to think, to reflect. The great thing about this site is we have much in common. Everyone, whether 'experienced' or newer to the cycling sport, has valuable input. I learn from the newest of riders. Whatever your future brings, take time to reflect and share your thoughts with someone. And of course, stop by here often!

I'm sorry your post made no sense! Are you tired of office work or commuting to work because you said: "but I do know I've pretty much had it with office work". If you've had with office work what does this have to do with cycling? Are you going to do something where your just simply are not going to be able to cycle to work? Or are you just spouting off steam?

Well, FWIW, I was like froze, I wasn't really sure what was going on either. I kind of thought "retrenched" was not a good thing, but didn't know it meant he lost his job.

I should've been clearer - yes I've been retrenched (traditionally a bad thing), but being as I'm sick of office life it's a good thing for me as I now have the opportunity to go and do something useful with my life - so about the only aspect of this retrenchment I'm sad about is that commuting is coming to an end.. I had mixed feelings about being a regular roadie, but I'm gradually coming to terms with it (I really enjoy and appreciate cycling as transport, as opposed to cycling for the ride).
I'm quite seriously considering joining a kibbutz for a while and seeing if that's more for me... I've HAD IT with living in a bull***** society filled with bull***** people and ignorant zombies chasing bull***** dreams and ridiculous illusions.
Assuredly, bicycling will be in my future

So you don't commute to an office. You can still commute to the grocery store, the post office, the bank, grandma's house, whatever.

Sorry, I read re-trenched wrong, I thought you meant you were getting transferred or retrenched to another position within the same company! Hope you find another job soon.
