What to change on 09 tricross comp?
So my local bike shop has a 2009 tricross comp that I'm thinking about picking up for my main commuter. Ive been reading about the brakes and have heard the stock tires (Specialized Borough CX Pro) are pretty bad for flats. I want to have them upgrade a few things while they have it and looking for suggestions on what those should be. Ive read people putting new pads like koolstop on it and then I'll probably want to swap the tires and tubes for puncture proof ones. Anything else I should have them change before I bring it home?

Also what size tires are people recommending for commuting. Its going to be all on paved roads although I might jump on some gravel every now and then. Want to keep it quick but want them to be pretty bombproof so I don't have to worry about changing a flat when rushing to work.

The picture on the Speciailized site makes it look like that's a mini-V brake on front, but it says it's a "high profile linear spring cantilever" whatever that means. If it is indeed a cantilever, you should have a fork-mounted cable hanger installed if it doesn't already have one.
Be aware that there's a trade-off between road feel and puncture proofness in tires. If you'll be riding strictly on pavement, a nice slick like a Schwalbe Marathon Supreme (700x32) or Conti GP 4 Season (700x28) will probably be puncture resistent enough for commuting (unless you live around goatheads) and still off a lively ride.

I dressed my 2008 Comp with 4-seasons in 28 size and loving it. Rims will take 28 and 25 road tires, not so sure about 23. Wheels will take direct bazooka hit - I have 5500 mi on mine and never had to true them. For reference - 4 RR Xings on my 30mi rt commute and I classify as light Athena, so rims are plenty abused.
You chose better that you know.
