Well, I considered another 18 mile round trip to go pick something up, but it's semi-late. Besides that, just got home from work an hour ago. It's not so much that I'm tired as it is that I'm lazy ... and putting off tons of heat right now. Like, I'm in a cold room and I'm burning up.

Why the heck am I overheating?

On topic, tomorrow the weather says "Very Hot." Like, straight up. Partly cloudy, mostly sunny, sunny, sunny, ... very hot. That's the weather, just very hot. Not sunny, not cloudy, just hot. Thunder storms after that.

This should be fun. I have an 8 mile commute and a 3 liter camelbak. Come get some.

Good thing we make our own air conditioning. We have a similar forecast tomorrow through Thursday: HOT. I for one am giving myself some exta time and going wicked slowly. Extra Baby wipes, please!

It was 102 on the way home today. I go through a 24oz bottle about every 10 miles in this heat, so three bottles sweated out. It was fine while moving, but stopping at a red light with a big ol' pickup six inches off my rear wheel radiating heat sure got the pavement wet under me from dripping. And in the usual roller coaster fashion around here, we're supposed to wake up to 50 on Thurs.

On the way into town today the Jeep was reading 104 degrees. Out here you better get your riding in before 9am or it gets miserable. The latest I have ridden was 12 noon and we were bumping 100, I try and get out around 6 to 7am. We have been breaking the 100 degree mark daily, the hottest so far was forecasted 112, I know we have gotten 108 a few times already not sure about the 112. We have almost no humidity which helps but 108 degrees is still 108 degrees.

I was more bothered by the 35 mph headwind than the 103 degrees. The humidity was pretty low, - like 22%. I know it annoys the people in the Southwest when we say it but dry heat is easier to deal with. Of course we only have to deal with it once in a while.

Out of curiosity I checked to see what the all time high is for Minneapolis. It's 108 so I figure I should be OK for pretty much anything mother nature can dish out here in the summer as long as I'm reasonably careful. According to one Wikipedia page, 108 is hotter than than it's ever been in the entire state of Florida, though I'm not sure I believe it. I guess that's the benefit of being a giant peninsula.

I have a Pakistani coworker, her dad won't let her go to Pakistan this time of year because she'll get sick. I think he means from the ungodly heat. I can't imagine it being more than around 110 over there... o.o

Those records will soon be broken. What used to be extreme heat will be the new norm. Every decade will be the hottest on record like the current one is. It's called climate change.

I lucked out, that was a tailwind for me yesterday afternoon. I drank through two bottles on my 21 mile ride home.

Yes, I was also one with a big grin on my face heading north. Seems like we've been fighting so much northly wind this year, that "it was about time!" :-)

Maybe in some places. It seems like we get fewer triple-digit temps than we did when I was young. The winters are warmer and it's generally more humid year round. So yeah, I think on average it's warmer but for us I don't think it's made much difference as far as the range of temperatures we experience.

I hear you. It's supposed to get up to 67 here this afternoon. SIXTY-SEVEN!! I might have to take off my jacket and put it in my backpack. (And, yes, that is Farenheit.)

Rode a 30 mi round trip on monday, keyed my 3L MSR bladder with about 1/3 of the ride home left and thought "oh sh-." Definitely a tough day but the heat isn't too bad unless your entire ride is in the sun or you make a lot of stops. I didn't realize how bad I was sweating until I stopped to consult my map and then damn near soaked the thing through.

Gotta love all the MN folks complaining about the heat. I work at a Chipotle and yesterday (when it was 102) the AC decided to stop working...I put in my 2 weeks notice today haha.

No kidding! And they came out with a heat warning on Monday when it was supposed to get up to a whopping 90? I'll take yesterday over January any day. It must be in the genes as my grandfather wore longjohns until July.

Yeah ... I noticed that those were pretty inappropriate for a bike forum. But, they're what Google Images found for me when I asked for typical Seattle weather.

It's June, and I have a long-sleeved wool tee shirt on. I went for a bike ride on Sunday, and had to carry my bike over a few patches of snow on the trail.

Just for the record, I wasn't complaining about the heat... I was whining about the headwind.


I'll take this over January too. My derailleurs both worked, my water bottle wasn't a solid chunk of ice, and I wasn't partially blinded by frost forming on the inside of my goggles.

Couldn't agree more. I wasn't accusing anyone I promise! It was just funny to see how everyone from MN had to mention that it was hot as BALLS on monday and tuesday. And I couldn't agree more. nothing worse than frozen hands, lanes blocked by 8ft snowbanks, etc etc etc. honestly for the heat we had this week I'd take biking over walking for sure. The breeze you create is a nice incentive to hustle and keeps ya cool enough
