How many people have you converted to commuting by bike?

So i have talked 2 other coworkers into commuting to work!

one (a girl) has turned out to be more committed than me. I dont ride in rain but for her rain means "blinding" rain and/or hail.

also since employees see more of us riding to work i now see two more bikes on the rack now

Zip, zilch, nada. It's still too easy to get around our town by motor vehicle, contrary to what my co-workers keep saying.

Zero. People simply do not ride bicycles here once they're over 16 years old. If they get enough DUIs to get their license suspended, then they drive on a suspended license. The exceptions are extremely few and far between. There are people who live less than a mile away who won't even talk about riding.

There are 900 people where I work. There are two other bicycles that show up once in a while but I don't think I influenced them, and they don't ride very often.

I talked a couple of friends into joining me for a ride in the park one day. They didn't have bikes, so we rented some. It was a gorgeous summer day, warm and sunny, and we rode around the edge of a peninsula on the lake. They both said they had forgotten how joyful and fun bikes are. Within a week, the wife had her own bike, and soon thereafter so did the husband. She wound up taking the bike to work regularly.

Fun is a gateway drug.

I'm not a religious zealot who feels the need to convert people to my religion or views, I'm just a guy who rides a bike. If seeing me do so attracts some people to trying it themselves, cool. If they ask me questions or ask for help, I am glad to answer or do what I can for them. I'll let the preachers do the preaching.

It would be intimidating for a new rider to pick it up around here. Flat as a pancake, but I live in the largest city in the USA(Something like 874.3 SQ. miles.) So most people stick to there boxes. Although there is one guy at work who started riding to work after me, becasue he realized we had secure bike storage.

None, and I usually emphasize how difficult bike commuting is if the topic comes up. I'll talk about the risk of falling on ice and how dirty and sweaty you get. The fewer the bikes the better. If every day was like bike to work day, I'd probably start drivinig again.

I've converted zero coworkers to commuting. Some have inquired about it, but just never do it.

If they did start commuting they would have nothing to complain about. They kindly inform me how much they spent to fill up, how much they spent on repairs, or how long the car has been in the shop without me even asking .

I wonder how much work could have accomplished if we actually talked about work ?

Ironically it is some of these folks that always talk about safety first in the shop and yet they are driving with suspended license.

One started riding more than once every couple weeks after seeing me everyday riding in.. Now they commute about 2 or 3x a week. They live 2 miles away from the job.
