Shifter options for IGHs
I have a frame ordered that is belt drive compatible and I'm looking at various options to build it up. I would love to go SS for the sake of simplicity and cleanliness, but I think for practical purposes, an IGH is a better option. I already have a SS bike. I think that for belt drive, my options are limited to Alfine or Nexus hubs, but I really don't want to put a twist shift or trigger shifter on a pair of drop bars. So far, JTek and Versa are the only other options I've been able to find. Anybody have any other insight?

I'm building a bike that is currently SS but that will eventually include an Alfine 11 IGH. I've been waiting on JTek for months to release their bar-end shifter for the hub, but I'm getting impatient and will probably go with the Versas. For the 11, aside from the Shimano trigger shifter, those are really the only options. I would think there must be some other options available for the other Nexus/Alfine hubs that have been out for longer, but I haven't looked into it.

The Alfine 11 is awfully appealing, but the price difference between the Aline 8 with the JTek shifters vs. an Alfine 11 with the Versa shifters is significant. With the Gates Carbon drive, I'm already spending a premium on the drivetrain, and I'm still seeing mixed reviews on the Alfine 11.

The same three-spline interface belt drive cog that fits the Alfine and Nexus hubs also fits Sturmey 2, 3, 4, 5 and 7 speed hubs and SRAM 2, 3, 5, and 7 speed hubs.
Sturmey offers a wide variety of shifters for their hubs.

Why is that?

German Mittelmeyer makes a Rohloff compatible Grip shifter, It's oversize to go around the curves,
and end up sitting in the center of the top of the bars..
too much cable is needing to be pulled, about 4", to have the 2 cable shifting work
with non rotary controls, It seems.
