Anyone commute on a Soma Stanyan?

I really like the look of the Stanyan and I'm thinking of one for my commuting and light touring bike but seems this bike has a rather short head tube. I'm not looking for a bolt upright position or anything, but something somewhat relaxed and "comfortable" is what I'm looking for. Seems quite a few of these that I've seen have a lot of spacers. That seems less than ideal. Anyone have a pic to share and their thoughts? Thanks.

On the Soma site, there's a picture of one using black spacers so that they are less noticeable.

I've been wanting/needing/drooling over a Stanyan for a while. I want to build it up as a road/brevet bike, not for commuting.

Yeah, I saw that and several others just Googling. Still a lot of spacers. Maybe it's not a big deal but I think I'd prefer a taller HT and less spaces but I really like the look. Not sure how it rides though but because I don't have anything local I'm going to have to try and fit it via measurements.

It's a beautiful bike, especially the lugs. It has a geometry somewhere between the Smoothie and the Smoothie ES.

It also has that short head tube that I don't understand as you end up with 3/4" more spacers and if the bar is level with the seat, it can look ugly, somewhat negating the pretty lugs. Theres' SOMA Facebook page and you can also Google Soma Stanyon Photo's to see how some of these frames are setup/

I use a Smoothie as my fast commuter and it's a great bargain for a very nice looking and riding welded steel frame. It was a tough call between the Smoothie and the ES, but in the long run I liked the Smoothie white frame and fork combo better.

Thanks for the info. I'm really conflicted. I love the look, and I don't need a zero drop setup, so maybe this will work. If it's between the smoothie and the es then would it be fair to say it's more relaxed than the smoothie but more agressive than the es? I've looked at some of the pix but it's hard to tell what my setup would look like especially since a 52 and 60 won't be very comparable.
