For those in York Region, just north of Toronto, try out York Region's York Atlas, which includes aerial views.

Ahh yes, once again, Saskatchewan is all but forgotten... unfortunately I don't live in either of the 2 places covered by this site (Melfort & Prince Albert).

The closest I've come so far is air photos from the 50's that cover about 10% of my route.

OK, I finally found a satellite image of my route (not great detail, but hey, it was free):

Dashed blue line is an alternate route if traffic is crazy or I want a change.

What a nice green place Saskatoon is! Your route looks sort of tree lined, clevernamehere.

I MISS THE TREES!!!!

Seems like an awful lot of us have riverside/shoreline routes. I guess that's a logical place to put bike trails, though.

I miss rivers and shores, too. <sigh>

We have canals and dry river beds. One of these days, they may partially restore
the Salt River, but I won't hold my breath.

Here's my commute in the Twin Cities. It was a little difficult to trace the route because the images are from 1991 and the transitway (bike path + road for buses and emergency vehicles only) didn't exist yet. This route is between 4 and 5 miles long.

My commute

That's very cool. I've been meaning to ride that bus road, I didn't know that there was a bike path.

I did up an image of the south Minneapolis to show my route, but the file is too big to post here and I have no webspace to throw it. I'm waiting to hear back from my isp about some space to host it.

There's a stretch without a bike path just south of Como Ave., but for the most part it's pretty convenient. While my entire route is in the city, only about 1 mile of it is on roads that I have to share with cars.

Here's mine. 13 miles mostly straight North-South, a country road with out a shoulder, and nothing to slow the wind.

Thanks to rykoala's generous hosting, here is my SE Minneapolis commute to school. At least until I graduated. Until I find a job, with a new commute, this will have to count. The red/blue route is a bit over six miles, a the green loop is just over 20, although I rarely ride the complete loop on a commute. The extra distance is nice, though, when the weather is good and I am not in a rush. Check it out...

Has anyone printed any of these yet? I kind of want to make a mural, but I am nearly out of ink and I haven't tested to see if they print well.

Thought I'd add mine. The yellow route is inbound, the blue is outbound. I work on a military base and the outbound gate is only open for exiting in the afternoon.

INBOUND to work: 3.18 miles
OUTBOUND from work: 2.17 miles

Not many miles, but my commute consists of subway, rail, and car in addition to my bike ride, and I spend 5 hours a day commuting. At least those few miles every day get me on the bike.

Cheers.

Paul

I know that you have to put many pictures together to get your whole route and i dont have any picture programs so i just put mine on Microsoft Excel becuase it wouldnt fit on Word or Paint. but i cant post it on bike fourms because its not one picture its many pictures put together?

It will fit on Paint if you create the size of the new file before you start cutting and pasting. (Image->attributes) You'll just have to use the scroll bars.

I use Gimp. It's free and powerful with many of the features of Adobe Photoshop.

I shrunk the pictures before importing them into a paint program. Then I just dragged them close to each other, added a route line, some text, saved the whole file as a jpeg, and then shrunk it again so it would be under 100K and postable here. I used the OpenOffice Paint program on Linux. It is easier to use than Gimp.

Here's my commute north of Seattle, about 8.5 miles each way.

The commute

I cut through the taxiways and flight lines to avoid the highway. I dodge trees on the first part of the commute, SUVs in the middle, and 747s at the end.
