No, it will not work because road levers will not pull enough cable for the V-brakes to work correctly.

This is from my understanding when researching Avid BB7 brakes at least. The BB7 road version requires less cable pull for use with road levers than the MTB version that requires V-brake/linear pull levers.

Or if you're not wedded to moustache bars, similarly shaped bars that fit mountain bike controls are available from Nitto and Velo-Orange. Trekking handlebars also provide a similar hand position.

Travel agent dual diameter pulleys sit on the brake caliper instead of the noodle.
convert cable pulled to what may work on the V brake..

I'd get cable thru the top of the lever road lever type,
that is what I use on my mustache bars, straight cable line to the brakes..
+ they pull a skosh more cable, still less than V demand, but closer..

For the setup you describe, travel agents or v-brake road levers are your answer.

+1 Travel Agents. Converted an old cross bike from canti's to V's with them. Worked flawless.

I like the Cane Creek Drop V levers. I converted my flat bar road bike to drop bar and used these. The hoods are nice and beefy making them comfortable to hold onto. The lever part has a nice contour and with my Tektro V brakes the bike stops on a dime. The only thing is I would add barrel adjusters to the top of the noodle on the brakes to be able to adjust tension.

you can also buy V brakes that are designed for regular road brake levers' pull ratio

The mini-V brakes have their own set of issues. I'd think it best to avoid them, especially when there are better options.

I will report as soon as things get back together and I have time to test them out.
I have those as well. The only thing I don't like about them is that the hoods aren't as comfortable to ride in as other (specifically the more pricey) options, such as the mid- to high-tier brifters.

With the RL520s I found that the design of the levers where the cable routes onto the handlebar is poor. The curvature of the plastic creates too harsh of a "bend" when the cable leaves the lever, creating excess friction and poor brake feel.

What I did was take a metal file and reshape the levers for a more gradual curve -- which improved braking somewhat.

Still though, traditional cantilever brakes/levers have a better feel IMO.

I have both the travel agents and the Tektro levers made for v-brakes. Both work well on my Cross-check. I like the Tektros because of the simplicity of installation.

And it takes a good eye to thread a brake cable into the hole and through that bend-- drives me nuts every time.
