Because of rather crappy weather, snow on the roads and extremely cold (for the region) temperatures, I haven't been able to commute all this week.

I hadn't given it any thought but my body has been much more tired this week, lethargic even. Except for missing a few meds and having to catch-up, my mind has been mostly ok too. But today at work, I simply needed so much coffee to stay awake its not funny. Plus I was taking small naps at lunch at my desk. I couldn't understand what was happening. Then my my wife says "well, its probably because you haven't been riding your bike". D'oh!

And here all this time I had though my commuting was hardly doing any good! Indeed, its been doing me a world of good. I MUST COMMUTE! Its a good excuse for a long bike ride tomorrow though

Happened to me a little bit ago, just too many exams in a short period. I had the worst sleep in years and couldn't figure out why. I biked around town maybe 4 miles a day, but nothing long or hard. I realized that I need to bike more for my mental health than my physical health. It's crazy how easy it is to take the benifits of cycling for granted when you have been doing it for so long then stop.

Nothing motivates me more to keep bike commuting than those couple of days when I have to battle traffic in the car, park in the deck that's a mile away from my building, and sit around all day feeling lazy. I actually appreciate those days because they re-energize me and make me bike faster the next day.
