Riding pants for commuting
Has any of you guys found a good pair of pants to wear over your shorts for commuting. Thanks for you input and experience!

are you looking for something "cycling specific" or something somewhat baggy to fit over regular joe shorts?

Showers Pass makes some really nice (a bit on the expensive side) stuff for all season commuters.

I have some Endura E-Vent knickers and full length rain pants that work great.

1 pair of non-cycling-specific tights under shorts from 60 down to about 40. 2 pairs of tights from 40 down to about 25. Then something like this (mine are a few years old, I'm not sure the exact model) with just a pair of tights underneath: http://www.endurasport.com/Product.a...133&prod_id=31

"Shells" that go over your normal pants will work when it's -20 to -10 F out, but, warmer than that, you'll just stew in your own sweat.
I've been using a pair of knickerboxers one day a week. They use DWR to good effect to mostly keep me dry, they're tight enough at the bottoms not to worry about my bottle cages or chain rings, and they're very comfortable. And they look normal enough that I can wear them the rest of the day, at work. http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/...nL._AA300_.jpg ^ Mine are a dark gray. |

These are superb...not rain pants, but excellent for cold-weather:

I wear Rivendell nickers. When it gets cool (maybe below 40), I add wool tights under the nickers.
