Green Tire Bikes - Are they legit? Never received order; no response.

I ordered brake pads from Green Tires based out of Minnesota on Oct. 11th. Still have not received anything. Called them and only got a message machine. Left an e-mail and have not received any response.

Anyone have experience with this bike store.

Thanks,

Never heard of them. Since they claim to be 'family operated' maybe there was a death or they all went on vacation? Might see if you can find someone from BF who lives in St. Paul swing by the shop and see if there is a note on the door.

They are listed as a dealer on http://www.diamondback.com/

GREEN TIRE BIKE SHOP LLC
1213 RANDOLPH AVE
ST PAUL, MN 55106
651-442-8680
jacob@greentirebikes.com

But the zip code does not match and they are not listed with the BBB.

Good prices but they are Really slow to ship. My first purchase was 8/30, shipped on 9/9. My second purchase was on 9/8 it shipped on 9/23. Contrast that with a recent real cyclist order which also had free shipping, item was in my hands in two days. Doubt I'll deal with green tire again.

Same here. They do list a disclaimer that if you choose the free shipping option you're likely to expect 10 to 14 business days for delivery. Aside from that they offer pretty good prices. Just don't use them if you need something relatively quickly.

I've bought from them before, mostly b/c of the available free shipping. With free shipping it'll take a while. After waiting a couple weeks w/o my receiving my brake pads I found out in an email exchange that it can be a couple weeks before items bought with free shipping. I eventually got my pads.

I figure they're good for those kinds of consumables that you can plan ahead for and wait. I did try ordering something else from them since, and after a couple days got an apologetic email they wouldn't be able to fill the order. My money was refunded to PayPal right away.

So in my experience they are legit. I did get what I ordered or at least got my $ back right pretty promptly.

IOW they are not fly by night in my experience, but it can take a while if you use free shipping. Even if you opt to pay for shipping don't rely on them as your sole supplier... at least for now until their online store gets better organized. Some things listed may not be available.

Ordering my Vaya and a series of upgrades, I purchased from a dozen places. Green Tire was one, they cancelled my order a week or so after I made my order. They never contacted me to tell me that. When I went on their web page to check order status I found out. I emailed asking why, they never answered.

I have purchased more stuff from many of the other shops; I have not bothered to try to purchase from Green Tire again.

Go to mtbr.com under "Where are the best deals"...you will see a thread about this company. I've ordered on 10/2 and 10/3 and still have not received anything. No one picks up the phone and two messages I've left have not been returned nor the two e-mail messages. Just to let you know.

Update:

WARNING! DO NOT USE GREEN TIRE BIKE unless you are willing to risk waiting about a month or more with no status updates...have no one answer the phone or e-mail and have no one reply to messages you leave...and, get this, have your order cancelled without explanation. I just found this out when I checked on my order. Almost a month waiting for nothing! All this time I could have ordered elsewhere, but I held out hope that the order would come anytime soon. They could have at least had the decency to either call me or e-mail me to let me know that my ordered had been cancelled. Oh yeah, item was "in stock."

MAD!

I used to live less than a mile away from them. If I still lived there, I'd have gone by to check it out.

I miss Minnesota.

How'd you get from the Twin Cities to Nanaimo? I'm living in Victoria now, but was born and lived my whole life (until 5 years ago) in Seattle. I fell a little closer to the tree than you did but I'm still adjusting to life on the rock.

I bought a small Axiom frame bag from Green Tire. It was not an urgent purchase (wanted something to hold my snacks, camera and cell) and Green Tire had the best price on the web with free shipping. It eventually got here. Like others said, shipping is slow, but that was fine for this purchase - I wasn't in a rush. My recollection is, though, that they harged my credit card well before it shipped and I was a tad nervous about that.

I noticed that the product coverage on their website has dramatically increased, well beyond just bicycling. I somehow doubt that is going to help improve service. Meh, there are other vendors for my next purchase....
