Took me about 5 hours to setup with fenders, and I just took it for a quick spin. It's a lot lighter than I thought it would be, and the welds are less noticable than I thought they would be as well. I think the roller rear brake was damaged during shipment, as the heatsink thing wobbles and it appears chipped somewhere. But I'll get that checked out later, I never use the rear brake anyway.
I've spent more on accessories (brooks seat, fenders, computer, mirror, etc.) than I did on the bike. We'll see how it works out though, it's going to take awhile to break in and get used to my butt.

couple things i've noticed .. maybe you guys can help me out
1. the chain is super tight and im certain it needs to be loosened up a bit
2. is it normal for front disc to rub alittle while the brake is not applied ......... i adjust the inner pad out 2 full turns to aid the installation of the wheel ....
thanks

I didn't know you could adjust the inner pad, I just adjusted the entire alignment by loosening the two attachment screws, centering the rotor, then tightening again. After that I gently bent the rotor as straight as possible with gloves on. Just keep spinning the front wheel and adjusting where it hits before the rest of it.
The handlebars were at an awkward angle out of the box as well, so might want to check that and adjust it. I adjusted mine to be exactly center and feels pretty good.

i brought the handlebars up quite a bit ... tweaked the brake levers ... they were lop sided ....
what is the little bottle of grease/ lube for ???
i loosened the caliper and readjusted .. but it looks like i'll have to bend the rotor like you did .....
borrowed the torque wrench from work .. to get everything to spec .....
does your rear hub runs smooth .. this is my 1st IGH .. it seems alittle noisey .. but maybe thats just the way they are ... my cheap alivio set on my trek 830 is super smooth in comparison
can't wait to ride it

Whatd you do to the brake levers? I thought they were just cheapos, and didn't really do anything to them. I think the grease might be for the roller brake or IGH, cant remember (there's a small hole that says "grease" on it somewhere), but I hope it's not for the chain because I didn't lube that. I wish I had a torque wrench!
I'm pretty sure the hub just takes a couple rides to get broken in and running smooth, but this is my first IGH and Disc bike so maybe i'm just being optimistic haha.
I rode the bike to school, and it's so slow compared to my road bike! I don't really mind, but I can't wait to get my brooks saddle in so I can be a lot more comfortable.

Go on Avid's site, and there'll be a link somewhere to the BB5 manual/user service .PDFs. Basically, just loosen the two bolts that hold on to the 4 washers/spacers, adjust the alignment, then tighten. It suggests letting the brakes self-center by holding down the brake lever, but that didn't work for me so I had to manually center them. After it's centered, then the rotor must be adjusted (gently)
I'm kind of avoiding the roller brake for now - I thought it was rubbing a bit on every rotation, so I gave the cable more slack. Now it barely engages at the end of the stop, so I'll have to readjust, but I didn't want it rubbing for 10 miles.

SKS Longboard, they come in Creme, Silver, and Black. I didn't like the last black fenders I had, they seemed too tacky, so I went with silver. Obviously a dark gray wouldve been nicer, but hey nothings perfect And thanks for the compliments!
