We have quads here also, so can they be posted too?

EDIT...maybe not because this is the commuting forum. I would be very surprised if trikes and quads are used for commuting.

Maybe they fall into the general cycling forum or utility forum.

There are probably trike threads in Classic and Vintage, Recumbents, Utility Bike and Alt Bike subforums. Trikes aren't all that popular in the commuter crowd though.

But since we're on the subject. Here's a nice motorized Schwinn trike I took a pic of a couple of summers ago:

I rode a Catrike Trail for three years and just moved to a Bacchetta. If I still had the Catrike, I WOULD use it to commute to and from work without giving it a second thought! It was a great ride, easy to ride in traffic as you don't have to unclip at a stop, but I got a need to go faster. Normal touring pace on the trike (and I did take it on multiday cross state tours) was around 12-13 mph, where on my Bacchetta Strada it's more like 17-18 and long rides at 20+ are not unusual.

Trikes tend to pop up in Recumbents and Utility from time to time, It would be nice to accumulate everything into a 'more than two wheels' section, though I suspect there'd be substatial overlap with the other two sections (and possibly Tandems if I ever build the articulated one I've been pondering.)

Well there you go, we have thousands of trikes here in Kyoto, and I've never seen one used as a commuter bike (and I see a lot of commuter bikes here). A few are used here for carrying kids safely, but most are for the elderly to pick up their groceries from the supermarket.
By all means, if you people have a trike used for commuting, post away. Let's make this thread for all non BIcycles used for commuting.

There are trikes, trikes, trikes, trikes, trikes, trikes, trikes, trikes, trikes, and trikes. What sort of commute do you have?

My customized, long fender-ed, '07 Schwinn Town & Country that I used to commute to my weekend job. Most T&Cs are RRW (Right Rear Wheel) drive, but mine is LRW due to a factory defect correction. It also has 1 and 1/2 Planet bike Hardcore fender kits hanging on it and a Brooks B33.

I have seen someone in town on an electrified cattrike. That's the only three-wheeled commuter, although I know another guy who has threatened to commute on his recumbent trike.

My latest 3 wheeler a Miyata Scarf Windy, a 2WD 3 wheeler.

Original condition

After cleaning and installation of additional accessories (front/rear baskets, Miyata LED headlight, reflectors, umbrella holder, and new set of seat post and seat.

Cleaning the 4 chains on the 2WD mechanism.

Further changes would be new Kenda tires, stainless spokes, alloy pedals, bell, and dynamo hub with LED headlight. The original rear basket is scheduled for repair and painting.

My Miyata Scarf Windy finally got its Dynamo Hub and new set of stainless steel spokes. Next would be the LED headlight to match the hub.

Yesterday I found out that the rear rims of the Miyata Scarf Windy needs a new set of stainless steel spokes and the rims needs to be polish. Changes to be made by next week.

Indeed. The front track on that thing is so narrow I find it hard to imagine it doesn't require the same amount of balancing ability as a standard single track bike. Maybe more.
