Polar 725 and HID

Looped in by a google search, I saw the question, does a Polar HRM and an HID like coexist? The answer is NO or no depending on your sensibilities. Since you're riding in the dark and can't see it anyway, wear it on your wrist and download at home. It will not work next to the HID.

The ballasts that drives HID lights give off some pretty intense electronic vibes that interfere with the reception. FWIW, it is the cost of the ballast that makes HID so expensive.

Have this same problem when I mount my Niterider Flamethrower next to my Cateye CD300DW or my HAC4. A helmet mounted light should solve your problem. I'm selling my Flamethrower in favor of a helmet mounted light. I'll post here when I see how it works out.

glad I didn't go with a wireless computer, then. I figured the ballast would be spewing some wicked EMI or RFI (I'd guess EFI more likely) and wouldn't play nice with anything else trying to send/receive signals.

Helmet mounted light works perfectly with my HAC4. Plus the added benefit of putting some light whereever you look. Very handy.

Same for helmet mounted HID and HAC-4 for me.

One has to wonder though, if they're screwing up bike computers, what are they doing to your brain? =)

Does anyone have problems with a helmet mounted HID & Polar?
