Show Yourselves...Getting to see the faces behind the bikes
Let's see who we're dealing with here! http://www.thegearpage.net/board/ima...ilies/wave.gif
One thing I appreciate about the commuting forum is the diversity and the "fred" bike thread got me thinking how it was cool to see the bike with the rider. My apologies if this has been done before...I searched but couldn't find anything similar. No rating system necessaryhttp://www.thegearpage.net/board/ima...ilies/beer.gif I'll start: Before the commute: http://i298.photobucket.com/albums/m...4/DSC_4303.jpg Road ride a couple weeks ago with my wife: http://i298.photobucket.com/albums/m...4/IMG_1515.jpg Top of the mountain: http://i298.photobucket.com/albums/m...120_100442.jpg Anyone else? |
I love posting pics of myself... NOT
But I will anyway. http://fbcdn-sphotos-a.akamaihd.net/..._2170572_n.jpg |

Damn guys, you're in so much better shape that I am. I think I will refrain from posting my current pictures for now :o I gained some weight while I was out sick for two months, so it's not very flattering. You'll have to make do with my pictures from 2010 bike tour, my belly wasn't that significant back then. :)

a pic of me and my trusty steed upon completion of my LEJOG tour across great britain last summer.
that's right, i did a 900 mile unsupported tour entirely with a backpack. that's how much i love backpacks vs. racks and bags. this is the NW tip of the scotland mainland, those are the orkney island off in the distance across the water on the left. http://img12.imageshack.us/img12/2907/mebike.jpg and here's the group of lymies i rode with, i'm off on the far right. http://img215.imageshack.us/img215/1363/mebike2.jpg |

Well, I'm in the "Fred" thread, so I won't post the same photo here. (That pic is also my avatar for that matter.)
But I just had to get in this thread. You see, I am a proud fred but I'm an even more proud commuter. For the sake of some kind of photo, then, I'll attach one of my youngest daughter giving the family dog a ride on a bike I built them a couple of years ago. The dog, unfortunately, never got very many rides; though good natured he's also simply wild. Still is. Hard to handle. My daughter did get a lot of miles out of that bike, though. So it all worked out fairly well. |

Dude, that's hardcore. I love backpacks too but the space between my back and the pack approaches temperatures not unlike the surface of the sun within a few short miles.
Most of the guys on the tour thought I was nuts for doing it with a backpack, but it really is the way that I'm happiest on a bike. I like the performance of a lightweight bike too much. When I first started commuting, I used a rack and trunk bag, but once I went to a backpack, I never went back. It helps to invest in a really nice backpack. |
Love the pictures! It also looks like for some, cycling has taken you to really cool places.
Steely Dan - great shot at the water's edge. Adam - I remember those shots from your touring blog. Was that the one you got rained on and your wife picked you up? weshigh - thought I recognized those mountains in the background. I missed the TDPS this year hut heard the wind was real bad. Clifton - does your jersey say "team soft like kitten"? I have never done cyclocross but it looks grueling! |

From our 2011 Ride of Silence, my daughter and our bikes. Oh, yeah -- I'm there, too.

Anyway, this is me and Jeeves, my '96 Litespeed Classic http://www.brucew.com/images/rides/2...5-crop-800.jpg Back in 2008, I took my daily commuter on vacation to Colorado. Here we are, me and my 2006 Trek Portland, slightly de-Fredded for the vacation trip. http://www.brucew.com/images/bikefor...s-crop-960.jpg |
Oregon commuting can get sloppy.

Why, yes. Yes it does. Our new caps even made the Bicycling pages.
