What is it with these old Trek Multitracks that keep following me home?

One is the basket case 1990 Trek 790 that I've shared in here before. Well, I didn't care for the flat bar, and put an Origin8 Gary bar on it. Added some SPD pedals. Also changed the rack from the Topeak Explorer to the Topeak Super Tourist. The VO saddle is pretty cool, too!

Then I got a super cheap 1992 Trek 750 that was neglected for well over a decade. I put new tires/tubes on; changed the bar/stem to a low rise mtn. bike bar; better saddle that I had; added the rack that I had on the 790 (Topeak Explorer); added some Shimano trigger shifter/brake levers & threw the broken Grip Shifters away; all new cables & housings; and new bottle cages. Now my son has a really nice commuter!

Wow. You have a nice eye for making an old bike look great. You should be in the bike flipping business! I like both of those bikes.

I was going to flip the 750, but I fell in love with it and decided to give it to my son! That's a perenial problem, I get old bikes and clean them up and then don't want to get rid of them!!

Yeah I'll resurrect this soul stealer zombie. Only buy so far this year is a 1992 790 for a reasonable ben franklin. Just finished overhaul, added tires, rack, saddle, pedals, bar ends. Very solid build on hardware and frame. I normally ride a 23in which was the largest offered in the 790, but these ran long top tube so I can actually ride this 21in comfortably. If anything the stem is a bit long, but does keep it high and the bar ends measure same distance saddle to hoods on other setups. Will ride a bit as commuter as setup as feeling cheap but may convert to drops if I can find a good stem.

This one followed me home last year. Much easier to ride than the Specialized. Thinking about putting drop bars on both.. my hand go numb on the Specialized but seem ok the Trek.

I've had a singletrack 950 & 920 follow me home. I love the old steel.
